Historia
The last in the Afrolit Now series, The Sins of The Fathers by Zukiswa Wanner is narrated by a man dealing with immense grief. When he’s unable to heal from the trauma of loss, Akani begins to question his and his father’s role as a parent and, in doing so, awakens to the patterns between them. In trying to avoid being like his father as a husband and as a parent, did he inadvertently become exactly the man he wished not to be? And what secrets lie untold? As he grieves, he wonders whether he was ill-advised to keep secrets that may unwittingly hurt his family.

Brevity. Background music. Voice inflection
Revisado: 05-15-24
I like the perseveration in both cases. Disliked the tragedy. And definitely could have done without the domestic issues. But all of this made for a good story .

Some points I’ve practiced intermittently, some I’ve heard of. These are good examples to incorporate into your life going forward. I might and I have had military training and recognized the endurance example afresh. Nice job!

Good read, but much fluff

Love the way she provides background and history for character development and setting. However, the book(s) could be completed with far fewer words and hold the reader’s attention in a much better fashion.

Not quite what I expected. I won’t recommend.
Revisado: 11-25-19
The most respectful thing was the initial prayer before beginning. It began a steep decline from there. If there is only “24 hours” what a waste of the up front minutes. For the first 30 minutes, the talk was like a word salad. Very little was related to the Bible. I lost interest within 40 minutes.
This sounds like a ‘Bible roast’ instead. It jumps haphazardly. Does the author or reader even believe in the good book?

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Superb reading.......but!!!!
Revisado: 03-22-17
Essentially a buffet of word salads.
No true storyline to hold my attention after presentation of the incest portrayal and the battle.
Beside the pitch and tone, it is difficult to follow and hold my attention.
I aborted mission to complete.

When Lane Coolman's car is bashed from behind on the road to the Florida Keys, what appears to be an ordinary accident is anything but (this is Hiaasen!). Quite engaging

Kept my attention most of the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the differing octaves in character voices. I'm able to vividly picture the villains. I wish there was an alternate ending for the big reveal and that key couple.
