Historia
The world watches the sky with trepidation. The insanity of Xenocide knew no bounds, and all will soon suffer the effects he had planned for a millennium. Though none know what is to come, they all know it isn't going to be easy to survive. The Master has a plan, one that can give the world at large a way to escape the onrushing desolation. It may be on the bleeding edge of morality and what he needs might prove too difficult to secure, but the Master asks for trust. Cal and Dale both have their role to play as the world hurtles toward destruction.

The change of narrators was a very bad choice.

When I saw this book had come out. I re-listened to the entire series building my expectation for the next book. I finally get to the latest book only to be thrown for a loop by the new narrator who just doesn't do the characters justice. I was disappointed.

Really enjoyed the story from beginning to end. From all the old game references and 80s trivia. Through the action and adventure / excellent story. I found myself in a world and with characters I am anxious to spend more time with!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book pissed me off because its so good and it will be a year or more before I can continue reading it! The time sped by. I had to stop listening to it at night to fall asleep because I would get so into it I would keep resetting the sleep timer and never actually sleep! I love books like that an instant classic in my humble opinion.

Fails to be funny
Revisado: 07-13-09
The author starts out his description saying "Publishing types tell me if you're reading this it means you're looking for a reason to buy" and I think it's fair to say that his comment is representative of the level of funny this book achieves. IE: Not much. I picked this because the last book I read was a downer when I expected and upper. I needed a laugh and thus thought myself pre-disposed to laugh.
I only made it half way through this book. It's much like listening to a neighbor tell you about his family and childhood. You stand and there listening politely, because he is your neighbor. There maybe a few interesting bits, and a few light laughs, but all in all you would much rather be doing something else. I kept waiting for laughs, and while there were a few chuckles, there were just as many places where the story is sad. Most of it is just annoying like the aforementioned neighbor thought he was funny when he really wasn't.
If you enjoy those types of stories from your neighbor instead of like me, just listening to be polite and wishing you were doing something else, then buy the book. If you are a fan of this guy and want to know about him and his wife and kids, buy the book. But if you are looking for laughs or comical relief I suggest you keep browsing.

Historia
It is not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters start to gather, picking over the bones of the dead and fighting for the spoils of the soon-to-be dead. Now in the Seven Kingdoms, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed, while surprising faces, some familiar, others only just appearing, are seen emerging from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges ahead.

Good and Bad but all and all loved it...
Revisado: 11-23-05
Feast for Crows picks up where the last book left off, without skipping a beat. I got lucky because I found the series here and only had to wait a week for this book after completing the other three. Like before the stories follow individual characters through, political battles and real ones. But I found the whole thing a little disappointing, and this is why. It does not finish any of the story lines and at the end, the author tells us that he gave us the complete story on half the characters and the next book will be the complete story of the other half.
Near as I can tell the only ?complete story? in this whole book is the one where the characters die,and that is not always permanent. Other than that he leaves us with cliffhangers for all the beloved and hated characters we follow. I have never been a patient person and to wait a year to hear about Terrain, (sp? That?s the problem with audio books LOL) and Stanis and Lord Snow?. Then god knows how long for closure of the story lines, well that?s just disgusting. When?s Aria going to get back with her wolf anyways?
That being said the only reason it is disgusting is because I am so in love with this series. As mentioned the narrator is not nearly as good as the previous three books, but he is not horrible. He just takes some getting used to. He does a dramatic reading rather than being the characters. When the previous narrator read you knew who he was by the sound and accent of his voice. This reader tries to accomplish that but fails.
All In all I did enjoy the book and the 30 some odd hours flew by. I will be awaiting the next book and the 15 after that., as I doubt this series will finish in my life time.

Why has this classic been so popular over the years with its presence in films, books, radio, and television? It is the mythology of the primordial steps of man's advancement. David Ian Davies has achieved great success in capturing each character with their own unique sound.

Wow a true classic
Revisado: 09-09-04
There is a reason that Tarzan has become part of our culture from comic books to novels to movies. Having grown up watching Tarzan movies, I found myself curious as to its origins. Being out of premium listener program credits and just about fed up with the dry 9/11 report. I went looking for an under $10.00 value. Lo and behold I stumbled on Tarzan of the Apes.
I truly enjoyed and could not put down this classic tale. From his origins which where much more plausible than any others I have seen before, through his modernization to what we call civilized, I was at the edge of my seat. I think this is a phenomenal value and highly recommend this book. I wish it was longer since I could not get enough.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future.

Good book but a real tearjerker
Revisado: 04-13-04
I did like this book; it is well written and keeps your interest throughout. Being from Chicago where the book takes place, I particularly enjoyed the characters visiting many of the places I go myself, the ones that are Chi town landmarks. But be fore warned, this book is a tearjerker and if you are like me, very sensitive about these things and you do not like balling your eyes out. Then skip it. If you are more like my wife and think crying is cathartic, then by all means get it. The characters are wonderfully human and real. Aside from the crying I truly enjoyed it.

Not Terry Pratchetts best but entertaining
Revisado: 06-20-03
I purchased this book with some hesitation due to the fact Nigel Planer was not the narrator. There was a review that said that Stephen Briggs was just as good and not to let the change in narrator put you off. Well after having listened I disagree with the previous review. While Stephen is certainly not a bad reader, he just does not due justice to Nigel?s reading. While I would not say skip this book, because it was entertaining, I would be prepared for the change in readers it makes a big difference.
