Philosophical thriller indeed

One thing I’ve always appreciated about the work of Brian Godawa is his ability to write stories without neglecting the problems of fallen humanity. He doesn’t hide the evils we experience but he also doesn’t glorify them. This was a fantastic story that lays bare the moral bankruptcy of secular ideology and the consequences that logically follow its premises.
Brian clearly demonstrates an above average understanding of both Christian and secular apologetics while weaving an elaborate and fast paced story involving the lives of two distinct characters. The pacing of the story, the skill of the narrator, and the thought provoking content was riveting and well worth a second listen. If I could choose a 10 star review I would’ve done it.

Historia
In this book, I discuss the life and times of Jesus based on the Bible and the works of religious scholars, researchers, authors, and spiritual teachers. The focus of this book is to show how Jesus, through his teachings, caused the members of the Sanhedrin great concern as his followers began to increase. He threatened their power over the Jews by questioning their lack of understanding of the scriptures. Jesus called them to repentance for their pompous, prideful, and phony pious. For the Sanhedrin, it was Man Against Messiah.

Unexpected Surprise
Revisado: 01-11-23
I was recently doing some biblical research on the book of Mark and realized how little I understood about the complex cultural and political nature of the Sanhedrin. I started looking around to see what kind of material was available but didn’t have time to go through something overly academic. I took a chance on this and was not disappointed. This book provided a fantastic overview that opened up the corruption of the Sanhedrin in a way that was clear and concise using historical sources. The author is admittedly a devoted follower of Christ believing him to be the Son of God and paid this subject with the level of respect that is owed to what the Bible clearly teaches. If I could’ve given this book 10 stars I would’ve. Anytime I read passages involving Jewish leadership hunting Christ in the streets as they do often did I will be reminded about things I learned in this book that will make me feel like I was really there and understood their motives.
