Dr. Richmond Dougherty is a renowned pediatric surgeon, an infamous tragedy survivor, and a national hero. He’s also very dead—thanks to a fall down the stairs. His neighbors angrily point a finger at the newest Ms. Dougherty, Addison. The sudden marriage to the mysterious young woman only lasted ninety-seven days, and he’d had two suspicious “accidents” during that time. Now Addison is a very rich widow.

Waste of time
Revisado: 04-18-25
If I could give this book less than one star I would. It was a total waste of my time. The voices were overly dramatic and not good at all. The storyline was predictable and ridiculous. I was literally disgusted with the book the entire time I was listening to it.

A blueprint. A bible. What Sun Tzu’s Art of War was to ancient China, Pimp is to the streets. As real as you can get without jumping in, this is the story of Iceberg Slim’s life as he saw, felt, tasted, and smelled it. It is a trip through hell by the one man who lived to tell the tale—the dangers of jail, addiction, and death that are still all too familiar for today’s Black community. By telling the story of one man’s struggles and triumphs in an underground world, Pimp shows us the game doesn’t change; it just has a different swagger.

I hated everything about this book. The story, the speaker, and the odd wording of situations. This was not told in an interesting way. Very annoying.

Great book
Revisado: 04-11-25
I loved everything about this book. I loved the voices, the accent, and most of all the story. It was so interesting and sweet and I know it may sound weird, but honest. It was so well written. A very interesting story from beginning to end.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

The beginning is very slow and depressing. I mean that to say it did not depress me but the writing and story was depressing. It had its ups and downs but then towards the end, got a little extra again. Leaving the reader to say really?? That’s ridiculous. Just a little too much at times and the good parts didn’t make up for them.

Horrible
Revisado: 02-11-25
I literally disliked everything about this book. The author‘s voice, the storyline, the main character, and the inflection he put on each character’s voice. The story was so lame and boring and predictable. I wish I hadn’t listened to this book 3 chapters in. A waste of time and money. And just downright annoying.

Heartfelt and wonderful!
Revisado: 02-05-25
I loved everything about this book. The characters seemed so real, minus the Greek playing. I love the college town, the studies, the friendship, and the complexity of Richard. I loved Richard. The story made me feel soft and warm and familiar. I felt the story in my heart. The writing is beautiful. The vocabulary stimulating and emotional. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Historia
When this best-selling autobiography was originally released, everyone was shocked: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell was the darkest, funniest, most controversial and best-selling rock book of its time - and it became the template, both visually and narratively, for almost every rock book since. Marilyn Manson is not just a music icon, it turned out, but one of the best storytellers of his generation.

Overly dramatic
Revisado: 01-07-25
I remember listening to Marilyn Manson Beautiful People when I was in high school. I graduated in 1998 when the book was published. I found this book to be very dramatic, unbelievably so. Almost to the point where it seemed, just like in his songs, he was dramatic to get attention . It was so boring and predictable. His whole act and persona and outlook on life was just to be as outrageous as possible so that he can get attention. He is that stereotypical middle class kid who was bored with his life and wants to do crazier and crazier things to get people to look at him.

Boring
Revisado: 12-30-24
I liked the speakers voice most of all. It was very calm and slow and clear. The story itself was boring and uneventful. I get the interest behind the idea of a café like this, but the people going back in time and their reasons were just uneventfuland boring.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Historia
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.
