Review of Narration
Revisado: 12-05-22
Since I'm the author, I can only review the narration and production. Both are outstanding.
Lisa Baarns and Red Baarns Audio are absolutely top-notch audiobook producers. I can't recommend them enough to any author who would like their own book produced in audio format.

I review my own book to give my opinion of the narrator's work. Chiquito Crasto worked diligently to produce an excellent audio book and he deserves to be recognized for this talent and work.

Historia
Abu Nuwas sits in the bazaar on his threadbare rug; a cup and sign proclaim him a teller of tales. For one small coin, he bids passers by to listen. A poor girl, Najda, sells spices from a tray. Would he, she asks, trade a tale for a packet of spice? Abu Nuwas agrees and begins the epic adventures of a girl and her genie. As did Scheherazade before him, Abu leaves Najda hanging in the middle of each yarn to keep her coming back. Between stories, he questions the girl about her life.

Perfect Narrator
Revisado: 11-19-19
As the author, I can only review the narrator, Chiquito Crasto, who did a great job. He sounds just like I imagined Abu Nuwas (the story teller) to sound when I wrote the book.

Kudos to Danny Hughes-Narrator
Revisado: 06-22-18
As the author, I can only honestly review the narrator and producer. I'd say Danny Hughes is topnotch. He managed to create memorable characters by inflection, speech patterns, and accents.
Also, top marks to the audio book producer: Archieboy Audiobook Production.

My Review is for the Narration
Revisado: 11-02-14
Where does Scotch Broom rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As the author, I think this penultimate book in the Witches of Galdorheim series is the best one, so I'll rate it #1.
What did you like best about this story?
Lisa Baarns narration brings to life all the various characters. Given that a good portion of them are fairy animals, her ability to make it easy to distinguish between them is fantastic. The reader knows when there's a conversation between Sianach and Cusith, which one is speaking. At times, four characters in dialogue are all easily told one from another without unnecessary dialogue tags.
Which character – as performed by Lisa Baarns – was your favorite?
Glaistig, the gray lady vampire of Scotland, is wonderfully drawn with a sexy, but breathy voice. It's easy to hear Glaistig's ability to draw men to their death.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Nearly six hours is a very long time to listen straight through. I wouldn't think anybody would or could do that.
Any additional comments?
Lisa Baarns has narrated the entire Witches of Galdorheim series. She's done a fantastic job maintaining consistency of voice of the same characters throughout. In addition, she takes the personality of the new characters and makes them just as unique as the regular cast.

Cute Little Love Story
Revisado: 10-28-14
What made the experience of listening to A Crispy Rice Christmas the most enjoyable?
The narrator was very close to the voice I heard in my head when I read the book.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the humor.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Boy Meets Girl Meets Fallen Souffle
Any additional comments?
Since I'd already read the short book, I knew I'd enjoy the story. The narrator was quite good with this material.

Down Home Style Adds a Lot to the Stories
Revisado: 10-23-14
If you could sum up Tales of a Texas Boy in three words, what would they be?
Humorous, nostalgic, boyhood.
What did you like best about this story?
The narrative voice is an 11-year-old boy. Donny Baarns consistently keeps in Eddie's voice and switches it up with different voices for other characters.
Have you listened to any of Donny Baarns’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Pa's Story about Eddie's father working as a veterinarian in the army during the First World War.
Any additional comments?
I'm writing this review to comment on the narrative style.

Historia
Set in a near future "now" and marked by moment-to-moment, life-and-death crises that are a practicing veterinarian's life, meet Warren Jeffreys, D.V.M. Raised white, half Cree, he's gifted with animals, but not very people savvy. Struggling to survive his first year in private practice, despite the huge chip on his shoulder, college debt, and a plague of bigotry and prejudice, his bad luck and worse judgment lands him broke and homeless, camping out with vagrants and vagabonds.

Gripping Story Well Narrated
Revisado: 10-22-14
If you could sum up Old Hickory Lane in three words, what would they be?
Engaging plot, writing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Old Hickory Lane?
There are many. Every incident of Warren's vet practice leaves you on the edge of your seat. Best spot? Treating the K9 corps at the clinic. Definitely an emergency with a lot at stake.
What about Kirk Winkler’s performance did you like?
The narrative parts are not just read in monotone, but pitched to the circumstances of the scene.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I can't stay awake that long, but the book certainly holds the listener's attention. I'd already read the book, but quite awhile ago. It was nice to hear the story so well narrated.
Any additional comments?
You can't help but wish Warren success, but you also want to slap him upside the head to knock the chip off his shoulder. If he was totally likable, I don't think the story would be near as compelling.
