Historia
Aza Holmes never intended to pursue the disappearance of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Pickett’s son Davis. Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

Powerful
Revisado: 10-13-17
I am a big fan of John Green, and you can tell he put a lot of himself in this piece. A few times Aza is begging John to stop writing and you can feel the struggle that he must undoubtedly have endured to keep writing.
There is a huge juxtoposition between John keeping the books relatable and realistic in many aspects, but also including segments and scenarios that just break from the world he has built.
This is a powerful call to keep fighting the good fight, but I feel it had a bit of hastily pulled together "conflict resolution" that need not have been there at all.
Well written, well performed, great story, great message, and it is sure to be one that I think about quite a bit.
my brother you are older than me,

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

Easy to read when you set your mind to it. Larson makes a choice of structure that offsets the greatness of humans with the terror they can instill.

Historia
From the Sunday Times top ten bestselling author of The Psychopath Test, a captivating and brilliant exploration of one of our world's most underappreciated forces: shame. 'It's about the terror, isn't it?' 'The terror of what?' I said. 'The terror of being found out.' For the past three years, Jon Ronson has travelled the world meeting recipients of high-profile public shamings. The shamed are people like us - people who, say, made a joke on social media that came out badly, or made a mistake at work.

Brings the worst parts of the movie center focus
Revisado: 02-06-16
The production makes it feel like a children's book. it isn't quite refined enough, and bits sound absurd to be read aloud.
the weakest parts of the movie become so clearly ridiculous when lingering during the audiobook.

Bought for Bast, read through several interesting stories. Good listen, but not really my style of writing. I don't think I found any new intriguing authors I hadn't read before, but I truly enjoyed the author I wanted to hear coming in.

Not a fan of the narration
Revisado: 02-01-15
Any additional comments?
I felt like the narration exacerbated some of the over the top dialogue. Reading the novels it is easy to lose yourself in the emotion of the events and understand the anger and desperation. Somehow, hearing it read aloud just makes it seem absurd and took me out of the story.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Are you the target audience?
Revisado: 02-16-14
Any additional comments?
As an adult, perhaps I am not exactly the target audience for this book, but that has not stopped me from enjoying any number of young adult fiction novels.
This book is great from the standpoint of entertainment, but I feel as though it may be lacking in some of the deeper thought and meaning that I have come to expect of such a high publicity piece. The characters can be one dimensional, and their development often leaving much to be desired.
I found myself speeding up the narration because the plot was more important than the words.

Would you like to know how the universe works? Scientists have been asking that question for a long time and have found that many of the answers can be found in the study of particle physics, the field that focuses on those impossibly tiny particles with unbelievably strange names - the hadrons and leptons, baryons and mesons, muons and gluons - so mystifying to the rest of us.

Baron, Baron, Baron or Roban?
Revisado: 07-10-13
Any additional comments?
The span of the characters attitudes, coupled with the productions choice to switch how the voices sound quite at random caused me to believe certain characters were multiple characters. It causes quite a disconnect with the story line which is probably why I did not enjoy this book as much as I should have. I found myself completing this novel never having been emotionally invested in a single character. For that matter, without even {\it liking} any of the characters. They all degenerate to whiny revenge driven, inconsiderate, murderous fools. I may have been slightly intrigued by the general direction of the novel, but without proper reasons investment I find this novel to be difficult to get through.
The strategy involved in overtaking power and the short one on one combat scenes are easily my favorite moments within this work, but they are far and few between many conversations overcoming tradition and hours of people in disbelief that someone can draw power from sources unseen. It becomes quite tiresome.
