Historia
When Agent Tori Hunter is urgently called to the murder scene of Dan and Heidi Newman, she finds their throats slit and Dan tied up: forced to watch his wife lose her life. Tori’s first thought is for their 17-year-old daughter, Cara, who is nowhere to be found. Will this popular young girl be the next victim? A broken bracelet is the one clue left at the scene, but the team is running in circles until Tori finally tracks down Cara hiding in the woods. Sobbing, the devastated girl says all she remembers is a flash of a man’s face as she was chased through the forest.

Twisted Author?
Revisado: 04-16-24
Although I like the Tory Hunter character, I am becoming more and more convinced Roger has a thing with violence towards women. He seems to like women tied up, raped and killed. Why is this theme so prevalent in these books?

Slow to start
Revisado: 03-12-24
Roger is a fairly good writers. Some of his grammar needs improvement. I like the characters, but this book was very slow to get going. Too much time spent on Tori’s therapy, and as a therapist, the session was not believable. Tori and Will are also at times dense, missing big clues. All that being said, I was eager to finish it and am starting book 3, because, again, they are good stories.

Historia
The beautiful young woman is perfectly still, curled up in the trunk of the car, her long dark hair hiding her face. Her cotton blouse has ridden up a little, revealing two small dots an inch apart on her back. Just like the others. Guilt has kept FBI Agent Tori Hunter away from her home in Manchester Bay, Minnesota for 20 years, ever since her twin sister disappeared on the Fourth of July, when the girls should have been together. But when she receives an anonymous newspaper clipping about another missing girl, Genevieve, Tori is dragged back to the past.

A Good Listen
Revisado: 10-24-23
I liked the overall story. At times it moved slowly. I was glad to find out I didn’t have it figured out right away. Kate is a very good narrator but I was shocked at some of her mispronunciations. Since when in “fillet” “fill-it”? Definitely worth the time to listen to it, and I look forward to another one of his books.

I loved the ending! Laila Ibrahim brought the characters to life. There was just enough suspense. She touches on difficult matters with class. Ms Turpin’s narration was wonderful!

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

I loved this book! I loved listening to his life stories and the insights along the way. Love the concept of “green lights” coming out of “red lights”. As a therapist, I found nuggets to share with my clients. Note to Matthew: go and see if that tree house still stands!

Historia
It’s the eve of 1953, and Aloysius Archer is in Los Angeles to ring in the New Year with an old friend, aspiring actress Liberty Callahan, when their evening is interrupted by an acquaintance of Callahan’s: Eleanor Lamb, a screenwriter in dire straits. After a series of increasingly chilling events—mysterious phone calls, the same blue car loitering outside her house, and a bloody knife left in her sink—Eleanor fears that her life is in danger, and she wants to hire Archer to look into the matter. Archer suspects that Eleanor knows more than she’s saying.

Historia
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Enthralling Story
Revisado: 01-27-23
Sadeqa did an excellent job researching slave houses in Richmond. She weaves a story which engages the reader with both horror and enlivenment. She thoroughly teaches us about the human side of slave trade and mixed wives involved. The heartache Phoebe feels comes through both in Sadeqa’s writing and Robin’s narration.

Historia
Vermont, 1950. There's a place for the girls whom no one wants - the troublemakers, the illegitimate, the too smart for their own good. It's called Idlewild Hall. Four roommates bond over their whispered fears, their budding friendship blossoming - until one of them mysteriously disappears.... Vermont, 2014. As much as she's tried, journalist Fiona Sheridan cannot stop revisiting the events surrounding her older sister's death.

Great book
Revisado: 12-08-22
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. Going back and forth between 1950 and 2014, Simone weaves a tale of intrigue with just enough fright. Rebecca Lowman did a great job narrating it. Her voices of different characters was a nice change from recent narrators.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Great Story
Revisado: 10-04-22
The Whistler is a great story. Grisham, once again, keeps you on the edge of your seat. I have a hard time listening to Ms Campbell though. Her narration is fine, but her attempts to do other voices makes the characters sound either bored or pissed off.
