Historia
As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from the “space between lives”, which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss’ family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

Well worth a read, and truly revolutionary if true. Also a quick read, take too much of your time. If you are interested in near-death experiences, the afterlife reincarnation, you will appreciate this book.

Historia
Man and His Symbols owes its existence to one of Jung's own dreams. The great psychologist dreamed that his work was understood by a wide public, rather than just by psychiatrists, and therefore he agreed to write and edit this fascinating book. Here, Jung examines the full world of the unconscious, whose language he believed to be the symbols constantly revealed in dreams.

Good Summary of Jung's ideas
Revisado: 01-05-24
Good Summary of Jung's ideas, though kind of all over the place with what seemed to me a lot of assumptions made. However, still interesting and worth a listen if you're intrigued by his ideas, or those influenced by him.

Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

One of the most motivating books ever
Revisado: 04-26-23
A truly inspirational book that gives you that kick in the ass you were looking for to get started on that passion project and take risks to be who you were supposed to be. I've read several motivational books, and this is perhaps the most effective, and it's also very short and sweet. Definitely read it if stuck!

Historia
Jonathan Haidt skillfully combines two genres-philosophical wisdom and scientific research-delighting the listener with surprising insights. He explains, for example, why we have such difficulty controlling ourselves and sticking to our plans; why no achievement brings lasting happiness, yet a few changes in your life can have profound effects, and why even confirmed atheists experience spiritual elevation.

Great book that provides exactly what it claims
Revisado: 01-01-23
Excellent book that discusses much of how ancient and more recent wisdom relates to and is often vindicated by today's science and research, which also provides a road map for happiness and fulfillment in modern times. It also serves as a fine introduction to Haidt's other truly groundbreaking and brilliant work.

A hilarious & insightful book on wokeness & comedy
Revisado: 10-26-22
Lou provides hilarious and very insightful book detailing almost every crazy woke story/controversy since about 2015, expertly rips the rampant hypocrisy to shreds, in a very funny and satirical way. It's a great book to read or recommend to anyone to understand why wokeness is so crazy, obnoxious and counterproductive. It also serves as a memoir of a comedian/legendary sketch writer/performer's career, experiences, ups and downs, and the wisdom he's gathered along the way. it's a very entertaining, funny and insightful book, not to be skipped.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Everyone On Earth Should Read This
Revisado: 11-05-21
This is seriously one of the most important books ever written, especially in this political climate. It helps you understand people across the political divide in ways we never have before, and realize that we need -- and can't avoid having --- liberals, conservatives, libertarians and everyone in between. Please read it and recommend it!
