Historia
University of Berkshire Hathaway is a remarkable retelling of the lessons, wisdom, and investment strategies handed down personally from Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger to shareholders during 30 years of their closed-door annual meetings. From this front row seat, you'll see one of the greatest wealth-building records in history unfold, year by year. If you're looking for dusty old investment theory, there are hundreds of other books waiting to cure you of insomnia. However, if you're looking for an investing book that's as personal as it is revelatory, look no further.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Great book
Revisado: 01-29-24
Definitely a radical book. Feels comprehensive. Some opinions are given but I feel as though it tries to be intellectually honest by giving multiple theories when in doubt. A work of art.

Decent story of someone who overcame many obstacles. Definitely a good little biography for those interested in case studies of grit and intelligence put to use.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Historia
For the first time in history, we have instantaneous access to the world’s knowledge. There has never been a better time to learn, to contribute, and to improve ourselves. Yet, rather than feeling empowered, we are often left feeling overwhelmed by this constant influx of information. The very knowledge that was supposed to set us free has instead led to the paralyzing stress of believing we’ll never know or remember enough. Now, this eye-opening and accessible guide shows how you can easily create your own personal system for knowledge management, otherwise known as a Second Brain.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

General good advice
Revisado: 10-04-23
Written like a blog, Mark Manson gives a few guiding principles that have worked for him and made him successful. A lot of the advice is very much the zeitgeist of our time, but whether you’re hearing it for the first time or it’s ideas from other authors Manson makes it entertaining, enjoyable and a fun easy read.

Historia
In The Unicorn Project, we follow Maxine, a senior lead developer and architect, as she is exiled to the Phoenix Project, to the horror of her friends and colleagues, as punishment for contributing to a payroll outage. She tries to survive in what feels like a heartless and uncaring bureaucracy and to work within a system where no one can get anything done without endless committees, paperwork, and approvals. One day, she is approached by a ragtag bunch of misfits who say they want to overthrow the existing order, to liberate developers, to bring joy back to technology work.

A bit skewed, but overall good
Revisado: 03-01-23
Overall a decent book about development. Does an ok, but not great job of teaching the concepts. More about story and how to be ‘faster’ than you used to be in rolling out features. If I would have read a summary I probably would have gained all that I needed. The story and performance are well done though.

Not a leadership book
Revisado: 12-09-22
The content is incredible and I have yet to find a flaw in the principles of DevOps. Every org is different, so some principles might be harder than others to implement, but it seems the methodology is easily understood as a better way to IT. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in this way. It was a masterpiece.
I would dislike to work for any of the characters, though. All of them are terrible leaders it seems besides maybe Patty. Maybe that’s the point, though. Despite our human condition we can still find a better way through the old way into the new way of DevOps. Thanks again.
