Historia
The American supermarket is an everyday miracle. But what does it take to run one? What are the inner workings of product delivery and distribution? Who sets the price? And who suffers for the convenience and efficiency we’ve come to expect? In this rollicking exposé, author Benjamin Lorr pulls back the curtain on this highly secretive industry.

NOT for Vegetarians or Vegans!
Revisado: 12-07-23
Do NOT listen to or read this book if you are a vegetarian or vegan or animal rights person. You will be disgusted and/or distressed at the very outset, and it goes downhill from there. I'm sure that it's a wonderful read (based on the other reviews) if having that stuff right up front and in your face doesn't bother you, but if it does, heed my warning.

It’s no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces listeners to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind.

Unlistenable - in Fact had to Return It
Revisado: 10-08-23
I have a great respect for Eckhart Tolle, but his voice is really off-putting, at least in this context; in fact I searched in desperation for another version - any other version - with a different narrator, because I *really* wanted to listen to this book. To add insult to auditory injury, every so often there is a VERY LOUD chime, including between each chapter - I mean at least 5x or so louder in volume than the narration, which means you either have to have your ears assaulted by the chime each time (3 times in the first 9 minutes of the book, after which I stopped listening to it), or you have to have the volume set so low that you can barely hear him narrating (which sadly doesn't ameliorate how off-putting his voice is - I know I tried). I actually hate leaving such a bad review for such a highly respected teacher, but people need to know before they invest in this audio book. :-(

My Top One Regret About Buying This Book
Revisado: 07-04-23
I was looking for a list of and elaboration on the top five regrets people have at the end of their life. Instead this is a narcissist author talking about her life, with very little treatment of the actual regrets (and indeed only slightly more content about the people from whom she learned these regrets). Most of it is "I went here, I didn't know what I was going to do with my life, I went there, I still didn't know what I was going to do with my life. Wah, wah, wah." Here are the top 5 regrets, taken from the chapter headings (I couldn't even bring myself to finish the book itself): 1. not living true to oneself; 2. working too hard; 3. not expressing feelings; 4. not staying in touch with friends; 5. not letting self by happier. There, I just saved you about $15.

The hero of John Kennedy Toole's incomparable, Pultizer Prize–winning comic classic is one Ignatius J. Reilly, an obese, self-absorbed, hapless Don Quixote of the French Quarter, whose half-hearted attempts at employment lead to a series of wacky adventures among the lower denizens of New Orleans.

Terrible telling and not the narrator's fault
Revisado: 06-28-23
Remember when you were a little kid and you liked it when your parents read you a bedtime story and did all the different voices? Well as an adult that is not nearly so charming, in fact it's pretty horrific. I did not know prior to purchasing this that the narrator was doing voices, and it was intolerable. I actually couldn't get past the first chapter. Not the narrator's fault, I'm sure that is what he was instructed to do.

This Book is Only for a Very Specific Demographic
Revisado: 10-29-20
This book is only for women who a) lack self-confidence and b) have negative internal self-talk, and c) are still menstruating. It was very nice of the author and Audible to make this book available for free, on the other hand if I had paid for it I’d be really ticked.

Don't Bother with the Audio Version
Revisado: 04-29-19
The content in this book is likely really valuable - however, the audiobook was *clearly* generated by running the text through a computer and outputting it with a computer generated voice. It was clear at the beginning because the 'voice' was distracting and offputting - and became all the clearer whenever the 'narrator' would mispronounce words where the word has the same spelling - but different pronunciations in different contexts. For example, the 'narrator' said that "Joe had read the note", pronouncing it 'reed' ("Joe had reed the note").
I expect better from an audiobook for which I have paid good money (or at *least* a disclosure).
