Historia
If, at the end of your life, you got to pick one day to relive, what day would you pick? Walter Zawislak wants none of it. Not a day to relive, not a trip down memory lane through a life he wasted. His wife, Rosie, died 20 years ago, and without her he hasn’t done much living. So if it’s lights out for him, then just turn them off already and let him get some peace and quiet. But Peter, the mysterious young man in charge of Walter’s afterlife, isn’t listening to Walter. In Peter’s eyes there is beauty in every day, even the bad ones. Even the really bad ones.

Thought-provoking and entertaining

This is a wonderful book that I wanted to listen to straight through. I loved the premise that the protagonist dies and must relive one day in his life before he can move out of limbo. The book examines his life and he discovers that many of his ideas about the people in his life were not quite right. It kept me guessing all the way to the end. I've already recommended the book to several other people, and will continue to do so. I received a free copy of this book and am leaving an honest review of my own free will.

Historia
Irrepressible Terrell Calder is a cigarette-smoking, school-skipping six-year-old boy growing up in a migrant work camp under growing rumors of World War II during the last days of the Great Depression. Son of the camp manager, Terry has no interest in school, and instead is drawn into an unlikely friendship with Mr. McCree, an eccentric old man living in the cracks of civilization. Together, they prowl the Everglades in search of rattlesnakes, epiphytes, and adventure until the law and society change their lives forever.

What a wonderful story. I was enchanted by the story as well as the reading. I can't imagine anything better than this wonderful story and the fantastic performance. It shows a part and history of Florida that I don't know much about. I felt so sad for the parents to have to deal with such a wild child, but now I'm grateful to have his knowledge shared with the world. Thank you, Book Sirens, for giving me a copy of this wonderful book.

Historia
Roscoe Ransom returned home from World War I, broken both in body and spirit, drowning his pain daily in a bottle of whiskey. But even alcohol can’t numb the agony of losing his wife or the fear of trying to raise his son, Junior, alone. However, the mind-numbing predictability of Roscoe’s life as a sharecropper and his role of town sheriff - a job given to him out of pity when he returned from the war - is suddenly upended when a black man in their tiny community is murdered and castrated.

A sweet story.

It was not your typical murder mystery. I'm not sure i liked such a syrupy ending. The reader was wonderful, though. I received this audiobook for free and am providing this review voluntarily.

I loved the two characters in this book and how they went back and forth. It must have been hard for the reader to use both the voices of an old woman and a teenage girl, but she did a great job.
