Historia
Dory and Dorina Basarab were once one person, albeit an unusual one. They were a dhampir—the hated cross between a human and a vampire that is reviled and feared in both circles. But the human and vampire parts of their nature were recently torn apart by a fey weapon, and now, for the first time in five centuries, they are two separate people.

Best Dorina Basarab book in Series
Revisado: 09-19-24
Okay, I'll agree with many other reviewers, this was the best Dory book for a number of reasons. I'm starting to thoroughly enjoy the multi-POV narrative of the recent books but this one was better then the last book because it was the actual main characters Dory and Dorina.
I hope the next book isn't the final in this series because I'm loving the opportunity to get to know Dorina's personality apart from Dory's. I also commend Karen for her ability to take side characters and make the audience just as invested in their HEA'S as the main ones.
I'm really sad the next book isn't already in my hands or that Cassie's book isn't out so I atleast get to remain in this world a bit longer. I will be impatiently waiting for any new book in this world and hoping we get one before next year!! Great job, this is a must read for anyone caught up in the Cassie Palmer and friends world because almost everyone appears in this book!

I DESPISED THE FEMALE CHARACTER WTF...
Revisado: 10-12-22
At this point I honestly DESPISE some of the main female characters that Evangeline Anderson creates.
This books main female character was one of the dumbest, unself-aware, ignorant women she has ever written. I'm sorry but she had a verifiable white savior complex and as an older woman she seemed to lack any common sense her many years of experience on earth should have given her. She was literally the epitome of the horror film troupe of the white lady running towards danger instead of away.
There were SO many instances where she could have sought help from the ex-military grocery owner before going false bravado first into a dangerous situation but this dumbo really thought she was capable of fighting 2 meth heads and 3 rapid pitbulls off with one shot gun and an attitude? Her Kindred and the police were no where around at the time but she that she was going to do something?! She had MULTIPLE options, including calling the poor girls parents after she was abducted but NO.
I find it more selfish when people are self-sacrificing when they don't have to be, because you're not only getting yourself hurt your getting someone else hurt because you end up FAILING to actually help anyone.
Evangeline Anderson needs to either write female characters with common sense and actual survival instincts. Or give the pen a rest until she can do a study on how women save themselves and don't always need a man to run to their rescue. These women are embarrassing, my favorite historical romance heroines are more fierce and competent then these women.

John Pritkin has been trying to recover from a demon curse that separated his body and soul and almost killed him. The reunification has left him with a flood of memories to process, some that he recalls from his past and some that he doesn't, as well as wonky magic, fluctuating power levels, and a splitting headache. Something that only intensifies when he finds himself stuck in a city under siege - by his fellow war mages. As the only one not overwhelmed by a massive enthrallment spell, John must find a way to free his fellow mages before they destroy themselves.

Is this also Dragon's Claw, Dory's Short story?
Revisado: 03-09-20
I honestly got so confused half way through this book because the stary started sounding like the short story Dragon's Claw that I already read. I'm still confused because it's been year's since I read that short and I honestly didn't remember John being in that story. also was John wearing Cassie's body when he met Dory? I'm so confused and I'm too lazy to reread Dragon's Claw to figure out what I'm missing. My suggestion is to read Dragon's Claw first then this, I think that's chronological order anyway. Love Karen's writing but sometimes the order is confusing.

The heroine is a bit ditzy and naive
Revisado: 09-07-19
The book wasn't horrible but the heroine was really annoying with how naive and bull headed she was. Also, the hero barely had a backbone. honestly this book was my least favorite so far, it was completely frustrating, especially since the main characters got into situations that were easily avoidable if they used common sense. I hope the next books are better.

She kind of deserves her fate, She's a mess.
Revisado: 09-05-19
Are there really people that stupid, that gullible, that weak, that incapable of believing in themselves or their self worth? I can't accept or appreciate a woman who wants to die instead of live just because she can't face that she's been a victim her whole life and she isn't strong enough to become a survivor. she is dumb and cowardly. She gives abuse survivors a bad name and she needs to stop being completely weak and instead decide to live with courage and autonomy. I completely understand feeling mentally trapped as well as physically trapped in a relationship and feeling like your unable to move on but I'm unimpressed with people who don't make an effort to live. I suppose she was never truly a heroine to begin with, and I have a hard time feeling sorry for her.
However, I will say that this story is interesting enough for me to continue reading the series, even if it is really frustrating.

It's all connected!!
Revisado: 02-06-19
It's really amazing how the author is able to connect the FBI Profilers Series with this one. This is the second time I've noticed the connection and it's like this series helps close what seems like the unfinished story lines of characters in the other series. I won't spoil the twist in this book that is a direct connection to the FBI Profilers series but it is a trip!! I really am enjoying the way Lisa Gardner writes and I look forward to reading more of her works!!

I wish these books could last forever!!
Revisado: 10-31-17
This series has become my number 1 favorite, it never ever disappoints!!! The worst part of this series is that the books are not long enough, and this is honestly one of the only series I would say that about. The best part about the series besides the characters, world building, and interesting scenarios is the witty sarcastic remarks that Charley says or thinks all the time. Everytime I read or listen to a Charlie book I laugh out loud and get the side eye from people around me. Everyone needs a little Charley Davidson in their lives and on their bookshelves!

An all wolf-shifter police force has been the only thing between humans and an unknown evil for centuries, but the pack is in danger of dying if they don't find their promised mates soon. It's a race against time to find the angel/human hybrid "One True Mates" that the pack's spiritual leaders say truly exist. Steamy. Light swearing. High heat. This book caused me too many headaches
Revisado: 01-12-17
The main characters in this book are so unlikable!! The two mains, Trevor and Ella are so whiny and weak and I seriously question their judgement because their decisions are worse than a five year olds. The names for the shiften are horrible, Wolfen, Beren, felen, I had a hard time trying to figure out if they were talking about people who are criminals that can't have children. I'm more interested in the dragon who has really cool powers and the two brothers Trevor and Trent who are stuck in wolf form. I even like Mac more than Trevor, cause he's less of a love sick wussy. If Ella's really queen I pray for the fate of the shiftin! Plus whats up with her powers, cause all I can tell is that they come online when she screams like a helpless damsel in distress. All in all, I would recommend this book more for the comedic relief but also because when you get past Trevor and Ella's cringey relationship, the lack luster love making scenes, the horrible made up names for things, and the annoying way they keep repeating that stupidly cryptic prophecy, there is actually hope for this book series in other potential main characters. I'll read the next book about the dragon and then make my decision on whether this series is worth my time. I suggest you do the same. Oh, and I really hate the voice of the narrator, he needs to go!

This is probably the best book in the series!
Revisado: 04-01-16
What did you love best about Wild Rain?
Rio might be a hard man, a man who lives on the edge of society and one who hasn't been treated fairly but after reading all the other books in this series (which at this moment is on book 8) Rio is probably the most caring and understanding male lead in the series. Rachel was annoying at times because she was keeping a very dangerous secret from him but Rio still stayed calm, gave her a chance to tell him in her own time. What I liked the most is that it was easy to tell why Rachel and Rio were meant for each other, I loved the fact that their past lives together kind of juxtaposed on their current life. There were some well-written moments that made you empathize with the characters and understand their love for one another.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I think I really liked two characters, Rio and Elijah. Elijah showed up really late in the book but his character intrigued me a lot (which made me excited for his book (Book 8) but it turned out to be disappointing) because he was living a dual life, and I found him kind of sexy :). Rio out of all the male leads is the most caring and understanding toward his female, I think Drake wins second place in his book and maybe Connor is third place, all the rest of the male leads are completely full of crap! Seriously, what woman would put up with half the crap these males are trying to pull. You'll have to read the rest of the series to understand how amazing Rio is compared to the rest of these overly domineering males. I just think Rio walks on clouds after finishing book 8 in this series and wanting to pull my hair out.
Which scene was your favorite?
I would say my favorite scene was when Elijah showed up for the first time and Rachel was alone at the house. He and Rachel finally had their heart-to-heart and Rachel was pretty much forgiving him when out of nowhere Rio shows up puts a knife to Elijah's throat and Rachel has to talk him down from killing him. Then Elijah joins forces with them!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Sure, the book was pretty well written and I found myself talking out loud or staying up at night even after I set my sleep timer on audible. It was an enthralling book.

Why are all the characters so one dimensional?!
Revisado: 04-01-16
Please for all that is holy and divine make the next main characters of your book series less needy and emotional. Why are all the males full of crap and all the females emotionally wrecked. Please have the next leads be a TALL, curvy but muscular/athletic, ex-navy/marine, kick-butt female heroine mated with a strong confident but understanding non-emotionally ignorant male character who can take charge without being a total out of control domineering jerk to his female. Do male leopards all come with this attitude, do all female leopards have to be sexually-inexperienced and naive with little confidence and no ability to defend themselves? That girl Cat had martial arts training and still could barely defend herself. Also are all leopards white, Latino or mixed white-Latino, there are leopards all over the world, where are the black and Asian leopards? You have a lair located outside of New Orleans and no one in it is black, does that make any sense? Please stop making every book the same plot with different characters or you'll just lose readers.
Elijah was my favorite character after he was briefly introduced in Wild Rain. Now I can't stand him or his female Sienna, they are both warped and really should seek help. When you end up listening to half a book on 3X speed just to get through the sex scenes that make up half the book then you know the book is pure crap. Wild Rain was so freaking amazing, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO STOP WRITING THESE BOOKS LIFE THAT!! Read this book at your own risk people, you'll end up disappointed and uncomfortable...
