Historia
How do our thoughts and emotions affect our health? Are our bodies and minds distinct from one another, or do they function together as parts of an interconnected system? Neuroscientist Candace Pert provides startling and decisive answers to these and other challenging questions that scientists and philosophers have pondered for centuries. She explains the scientific basis of popular wisdom and phenomena like "gut feelings" and makes comprehensible recent discoveries in cancer and AIDS research.

A scientific explanation for mind-body healing
Revisado: 03-05-13
Audio books are by far my favourite format for digesting books and so I was surprised to conclude that this book may be a better read rather than listen. The reason for this is that the early part of the book presents a lot of scientific jargon, a preponderance of biochemical names for example, such that it's easy for the layman to get lost in the explanations. Having said that, I think there was some undoubtedly fascinating parts to this book - treasures of information in fact that I haven't found elsewhere. The book is a great source for someone who is searching for scientifically grounded explanation for emotions, for healing, for mediation - and other such topics that are often dismissed, even ridiculed, by scientific establishments. Have you ever found your credibility questioned if you mention the word healing in a spiritual sense? Then this book could help you stand your ground. I'm pleased to have come across this book that is a fortunate bridge between science and healing from a mind-body approach. I'm grateful to have listened to it and I expect to follow up by reading it in print too.

My 75 year old mother started running
Revisado: 11-26-12
This book packs a real story, real-life modern personalities and useful information into a great read - one of those 'can't put down' reads. I probably listened to this book faster than any other. My 75 year old mother, began running, for the first time in her life, after reading it within a week on Kindle. To say that it is well written is an understatement - it is perfectly written in every dimension possible, and it's funny. This book got me running again.

A Perfect Audio Book
Revisado: 10-12-12
This audio book was just what I was looking for - a short story for along the way to school for my son. Only 14 minutes, leaving enough time to discuss it. It fulfilled my every desire for an audio book - really great narrator-actors, (the best I've come across actually), a great story using vocabulary that my 5 year old could mostly understand, with a tad new words to challenge him somewhat and a crystal clear recording, which is so important for the car. We were literally captivated while listening.
This audio book's excellence turned out to be a problem in the end. It was so captivating that my son's imagination became hijacked by the story. Suddenly, he has become afraid in our house at night time and insists on never being left alone. Parents of young kids should know that there's a pretty scary monster in this one.
