This sprawling and often brutal novel, set in the rich farmlands of California's Salinas Valley, follows the intertwined destinies of two families - the Trasks and the Hamiltons - whose generations helplessly reenact the fall of Adam and Eve and the poisonous rivalry of Cain and Abel.

Great Story

As a lifelong Alaskan I was a little skeptical that the author would get it right, but she did! True descriptions and vivid displays of accuracy for my home state. Story was serious dealing with some extreme issues but well done. I recommend this book.

Historia
Fly Away is the story of three women who have lost their way and need each other - plus a miracle - to transform their lives. An emotionally-complex, heart-wrenching novel about love, family, motherhood, loss, and redemption, Fly Away reminds us that where there is life, there is hope and where there is love, there is forgiveness. Told with her trademark visceral storytelling and illuminating prose, Kristin Hannah reveals why she is one of the most beloved writers of our day.

Very moving story
Revisado: 07-08-16
Would you listen to Fly Away again? Why?
Yes, although I wanted to return it after listening to the beginning chapters, but I was determined to keep listening as I know this author is good. The description of the character in the beginning was tedious to listen to as she was a pain in the neck and sounded like a whiney brat. Once the story continued and the other characters were introduced the story became very compelling and I understood the set up of this character. By that time I could not break away from it! Several times before I finished the book I was so glad I had not given up on it as it turned out to be a very remarkable story, although sad and tragic it was full of beauty and happiness as well. I recommend this story.
Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?
Dorothy
If you could take any character from Fly Away out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Tully
Any additional comments?
Good book!
