I shamefully admit that I was drawn to this book because it was selected by Reese. Ugh, I was swayed by a celeb. The history of Cuba was intriguing, but the story was painfully slow. It took me about 4 weeks to get through the book. Also the reader read in such a monotone voice that I would find myself just tuning her out. I’m just happy I finished it and can move on to something more exciting.

Diane Chamberlain is one of my favorite authors, but this book- not so much. The subject matter was difficult to take in. At times the narrator read so fast and monotonous, I would find myself zoning out.

I'm already a Nora Roberts' fan, but I really loved this book - romance mixed with some suspense and a little paranormal activity.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Absolutely nothing! I don't think the narrator has done very many romance novels, but I thought his voice was really sultry.

It combined all my favorite genres - crime, suspense, a little romance...

It was hard to stop listening to this one. Lots of twists and turns.
