Not the most revolutionary sci-fi book out there but engaging enough that I don't want to stop listening, and I want to get the next book.

The narrator did a great job! He gives each of the characters their own voice that suits their personality.

Very enjoyable escape

without giving away anything about the story, I have to say this was a great way to escape the stress of real life. The best part of this book is the characters you get to know along the way.

A story. A lesson. A question.

I wish I could thank J.D. for writing this. I found a lost parts of my own story through this book.
My dad was in the Navy and we moved all over the country. I always felt like an outsider and could never understand why my family was so different from everyone else, until now. I come from Scott/Irish redneck hill folks, their values, sense of loyalty, and customs are what I was raised with but never encountered outside my immediate family. Even the flaws and struggles he describes I recognize in myself and my family.


While this book has given me some answers about where I come from it left me with more questions. My dad and I went through this book together book club style. The big question he was left with was "How can I help?" (he grew up seeing the worst of what J.D. grew up with.) My big question was how do I move forward, and how do I make sure my kids have the opportunity to continue that upward momentum?


This book was well worth the time, and I wish it was longer.

As good as it was when I was a kid!

I grew up watching the Redwall series and when I found out it was originally a book series I had to read it.
I'm happy to say the story is just as good now as it was when I was a kid!

The voice actors do a great job! Just turn the volume down when Clooney goes on a rant if you have headphones on, it gets pretty loud.

A wonderful new look!

I remember being only 4 or 5 when I heard my parents reading the Hobbit together and was insistently captivated! Tolkien's books became some of the most important books of my childhood.

My husband and I found this and Listen to it together, it was so much fun and gave us so much to think and talk about!
It gave me a wonderful new look at a childhood favorite, and shows just how rich all of Tolkien's work is!



There are several audio glitches throughout the book that are a little distracting, but you don't lose any of the story, The reader is still enjoyable, and I would still say it's completely worth it!

This book gives you something to wonder at in a world that has forgotten how to wonder.

Worth it!

My husband and I are starting from the beginning with the baby steps so we got this to get us motivated. My hubby it's into audiobooks like I am, but when he heard he could have the "bald angry man" (Dave Ramsey) yell at him he was all in. lol
Dave's honest, straight forward, tough-love approach is just what we need.
I know we will listen to this book again and again as we go through the steps.

Chesterton's writing is that's relevant today as it was when it was first written.

Absolutely brilliant!

Reading all of the Sherlock Holmes books has been on my bucket list for a long time and this was the best way I could have done it.
Stephen Fry does an amazing job bringing these stories to life! Honestly one of the best uses of an audible credit!
If you enjoy any of the Sherlock Holmes movies or TV shows you will love the original!
