endearing story & beautifully written
Revisado: 12-06-18
First, be prepared for multiple character's to keep up with. The story is beautiful, and all the characters come together and make perfect sense. However, I found myself in the beginning going back to understand or remember characters prior chapters to recall what they were going through. So starting the book, you find you have the same issue.

Historia
Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack one wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

open for interpretation of the Trinity
Revisado: 11-26-18
I've read it twice... first time was several years ago, and then decided to listen to the book again & just finished.
Young wrote this fiction as a reflection of his personal great sadness. I feel we can all relate to such seasons of life. I also feel the struggle of going through seasons of sadness or pain can draw you closer to God or can push you away. This story touches on both extremes, ending in the enlightening of the power of Love and forgiveness.
As Young writes the interactions of Mack and his Shack experience with the Trinity, it opens up a vision of a loving God. The story helps a troubled man find his way back to the core beliefs; take religion out of God and see him as Love. A loving God full of mercy and unconditional understanding of his creations.
When Mack uncovers his greatest pains, he is set free. When he forgives those who caused his grief, he gives it to God to deal with. I absolutely love the way he gently shows how patiently God works in us.
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book as a follower of Jesus. How I relate to his descriptions of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the same, but have significant roles to guide for a life on Earth.
Bottom line is Love conquers all sorrow and grief.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

super dark story
Revisado: 10-27-18
if you like books with descriptive gore, then you'll enjoy this. I knew there was Satan in the story line, but for me it was too much.
the character of Libby was fabulous, and I kept reading just because of her. there were twists I thought I had parts figured out, boy was I wrong.

I couldn't stop listening! I say that about some books, and it was true...However, this book was the most recent I honestly couldn't stop. I would have my headphones on, with my husband annoyed I wouldn't talk to him. lol
The story touched every emotion one possesses. Jewell wrote this in such a way, where you would understand every emotion with the characters.
it's a must to own!

For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Historia
Now Cannie's back. After her debut novel - a fictionalized (and highly sexualized) version of her life - became an overnight bestseller, she dropped out of the public eye and turned to writing science fiction under a pseudonym. She's happily married and has settled into a life that's wonderfully predictable. As preparations for her daughter Joy's bat mitzvah begin, everything seems right in Cannie's world. Then Joy discovers the novel Cannie wrote years before and suddenly finds herself faced with what she thinks is the truth about her own conception - the story her mother hid.

Cannie's character is honest, funny, and bold. to hear how her life continued after book 2, but the end of this book makes me really interested in hearing more from JW and her Cannie Shapiro stories.
