Historia
In Modern Social Imaginaries, Taylor continues his recent reflections on the theme of multiple modernities. To account for the differences among modernities, Taylor sets out his idea of the social imaginary, a broad understanding of the way a given people imagine their collective social life. Retelling the history of Western modernity, Taylor traces the development of a distinct social imaginary.

Important book; poor choice of reader
Revisado: 01-01-25
This is an essential book in contemporary thought, and I was very pleased to see there was an Audible version so I could “reread” it while exercising. However the choice of reader was very disappointing - as others have noted, he has a monotone voice that seems like an automaton. To make matters worse, he mispronounces almost every word that is not English. This book has a not incidental amount of French phrases (it discusses French thinking and the Revolution) - no one expects perfect accents from an Anglophone reader but nearly every phrase is butchered. Too bad, as a stronger performance would help make Taylor’s crucial book more accessible and adapt it better to the audio platform. As for me, I’ve gone back to my print copy.
