Historia
Mary Gauthier was 12 years old when she was given her Aunt Jenny’s old guitar and taught herself to play with a Mel Bay basic guitar workbook. Music offered her a window to a world where others felt the way she did. Songs became lifelines to her, and she longed to write her own, one day. Then, for a decade, while struggling with addiction, Gauthier put her dream away and her call to songwriting faded. It wasn’t until she got sober and went to an open mic with a friend did she realize that she not only still wanted to write songs, she needed to.

Worth every minute of your time

This book offered so much more than I expected. Honestly, it’s probably the best audiobook I’ve listened to given the way the music is interwoven and is part of the educational components and storytelling. I’m so glad that Mary narrated it herself. I found myself in a conversation with her, and tearing up all along the way. It’s beautifully written, and beautifully narrated. It accomplishes so much more than its stated purpose. It blew my heart wide open. So grateful that a Lori McKenna podcast led me to Mary Gauthier and to this book. Books like these make the world a more beautiful and kind place.
