I was fully enraptured by the story and gained a better feel of the conditions of these locations during WWI.

Historia
On Winston Churchill’s first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next 12 months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally - and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people "the art of being fearless."

Fascinating Vantage Point
Revisado: 06-24-21
This is our first book by Erik Larson. This picture of Churchill and those around him during the war is fascinating. We found Larson’s writing style gripping and entertaining. John Lee read the story well with a pleasant change in his voice for each character.

Classic heart-searching and heart-warming Surgeon.
Revisado: 01-01-21
Spurgeon declares the truth clearly and powerfully. This book is encouraging and insightful. If you are well taught in theology it will challenge you. If you are just curious about what Christians believe, it will clearly explain it to you. Each chapter builds on the earlier ones, but each is also self contained. David Holdt's voice is pleasant and clear, and the musical interludes are calming and short enough that they do not distract or detract from the book.
