The title says it all but to go further into it, this book was weighed down by jade herself. I didn't have a problem with it feeling more like a filler like others did, a slow build up is needed for a good payoff. What I have an issue with in this volume is jade herself. She is a massive hypocrite, let's her power get to her head, has a massive ego, and thinks she knows better than everyone else about the world despite having 0 actual real world experiences due to being in the hospital all her life. She's too much of an idealist in her views and looks at the world through her ideal lense instead of a realistic one. I hope the author dials her back and gives her an ego check in future books, because I really do love this series, but jade is becoming an unbearable character. She refuses to understand how lucky she is and remember those that got her to her position in the first place. Despite all the leeway she is given, she just wants more and takes and takes while throwing a tantrum to anyone who goes against her. She's always been very self centered but at least back then it was understandable because she was in a new environment with the ability to do things on her own, so she gets a slight pass there. But if she is still being like this despite how long the series has gone on for, it shows a very clear lack of character development. Most characters are supposed to get better and more relatable as the story goes on, jade doesn't at all. And even when there are perfect opportunities for her to be humbled, she digs in her claws and doubles down instead of learning.

On a higher note, the world is still as interesting as ever and the narrator is still top tier and really brings personality to each and every character. I can't sing her praises enough.

This story is a great read but isn't without its downsides. 2 in particular that put me off at times was that the entire book started and was based around misunderstanding, so much so that it was comical at points. The other one being at times it almost felt like the book was written to promote Communist propaganda with how hard it was pushed. I know that it was just in relation to the story itself and the characters, but it really felt like it harped on it for a long while at the beginning of the book. On the flip side, one thing I really enjoyed was the small Easter egg the author wrote into the book in referencing their other book series "Cinnamon bun". if you follow that series as well and are a keen listener, you should also notice it. It was subtle but fitting, did not need to be there and played no role in the story, but it was a nice little bone for the people who follow Ravensdagger.

Amazing story, Incredible Narration. What happens when you combine the two together? You get this series. Once again the author is able to write a story and world that are both unique, and enjoyable while making each of the characters personality interesting and unique to each one. Speaking of characters, Reba Buhr also nailed her role as narrator once again. Not only did she do her job of telling the story, she went above and beyond with her dedication to making each and every character feel alive and realistic, and give each and every one their own voices that fit perfectly and make it easy as a listener to identify who is talking. To say she did a good job would be a massive understatement. You only start noticing the differences between a good narrator and an amazing one after you have experienced how an amazing one narrates. This series achieves that balance between great story telling and great narration perfectly. I eagerly look forward to volume 4 and every other volume after that. This series shows no signs of slowing down any time soon and I hope that to be true. Cinnamon Bun Volume, you have definitely earned my purchase and my 5 star review.

Another really good book by Ravens dagger. The author manages to capture your attention right from the beginning and hold it all throughout the story. While the book is a medium length of 9 hours, it appears to be (As of this moment) a single volume story. While the story could offer more if this was a series, the book wraps everything up in a way that any questions or doubts are addressed and it feels like a definitive ending. I had one complaint and one moment where I questioned the author's intent The complaint being there are alot of misunderstanding throughout the story. This makes sense as to the story is essentially built around misunderstanding between the two main characters but there was one big one that felt forced and dragged on revolving around a characters sexuality and which way she sways. The questionable moment was where the author got into borderline pedophilic content. This happened when the main character of the story (A summoned creature who has a childish appearance and personality) comes into contact with a group of lesbian characters part of a club that imply that she should have "an intimate relationship" with her summoner. It is even said by a side character that "she looks like she is 13". Aside from this iffy part of the story, the rest of the book was very engrossing, and the author did a good job portraying each character and giving them each personality. The ending was really good and well written and seemed confusing for the briefest moment until it all came together.

This story was very good and well worth the purchase. My only slight complaint being that there are a couple loopholes and situations mostly towards the end that could of changed the entire story if the characters acted upon them. If you can look past very minor things like that then it is no problem. The ending to this story did not disappoint in the slightest despite having a basic idea of what could possibly happen based upon it being a retelling of sleeping beauty.

Once again kurtis Eckstein wrote another incredible volume in this series. That being said, I have one complaint. At the end of volume 3 it is discovered that Sam's thought to be deceased daughter has the power of reincarnation and has come back in the form a baby with Freya as her new mother. At the end of volume 3 this was a huge discovery and plot twist that threw the story and the families life into chaos. But in this volume that discovery seems to be completely overshadowed by Sam's possible new relationship to the Stockton sisters and is thrown to the wayside like that big plot point didn't matter at all. On that same note, it also felt like Sam was this overly horny guy who only ever had his mind on perverse thoughts. Despite him having 2 young children (One that came back after years of being thought dead) he hardly ever actually spent time with them as a father. These issues are not insignificant but I didn't feel they warranted a lower review. This volumes main selling point is most definitely the end. Kurtis Eckstein has a way of ending his stories with incredible twists that are hard to completely predict and like all the previous volumes, he did not fail to deliver with this one. If nothing else the ending makes it worth getting to.

This story is a prime example of how to write a story as unprofessionally as possible. Was incredibly hard to bare through the first couple minutes. A tip to the author, leave your personal opinions and politics out of your writing, as I said it makes it look unprofessional.

This was a very good book that I highly enjoyed. I do have some complaints though. Particularly that it felt like the supposed to be main characters (Keel and Sylvia) hardly had any roll in this volume as opposed to Vol 1, and more often seemed like side characters that got minimal attention than some of the actual side characters. Another small complaint is I felt like there was some loose ends left untied by the end of the book; not many but a few that seemed moderately important. This wouldn't be a problem if they were supposed to be addressed in a next volume, but there was so few that I can't see a 3rd volume being written just to tie them up, especially since the story seemed to be finished with this one. Lastly was a performance issue. Whenever the narrator was delivering Chase's lines it was often difficult to know if he was meant to be monologuing in his head, or speaking out loud. It wasn't enough to detract from the performance, but it did make it confusing at times, which happened often since chase had A LOT of parts.

This story was very well written and never has a dull moment, I highly enjoyed it but I recognize I'm part of the audience it appeals best to. The story was written with people who enjoy very fantastical, over the top, pure, cliche fairy tale romance in mind. If you are looking to get invested in a very wholesome romantic story with hours and hours of emotional story telling, this book is worth picking up despite it's higher price. If you are looking for a more realistic, less cliche fantasy romance story then this would not be the book for you.
The narrator's did an excellent job of conveying the characters intentions and emotions, while giving them voices that seemed to fit the characters in question rather well. My one complaint would be that the story often introduces a range of characters and perspective that drag on for a while (much like this review).

Tldr: For people that like very high fantastical/emotional romance stories, not realistic gritty romance lovers.

Very entertaining and worthwhile story to listen to. Spot on narration, and what an incredible "cliffhanger" ending to vol 1 that was.
