Historia
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Intellectually compelling and thought provoking!
Revisado: 04-05-25
In JP style, this book illuminates many unique aspects of God’s word and how it relates to the human experience in such a profound way that one cannot help but feel an awestruck wonder at the depth, breadth and relevance of this ancient text to his own life.
Analogous to digging up a rock in your garden after years of tripping over it, only to find that the rock, once cleaned up and polished, is actually a beautiful diamond with brilliant, multicolored facets on it’s countless sides. And as you hold it and turn it about on each side, you are amazed!

Historia
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Extraordinary and personal
Revisado: 07-11-22
If you’ve ever loved the James Taylor song (and let’s face it, who hasn’t?) This is a must listen! James takes you into his personal life and struggles and then reveals the beauty that he made out of tragedy. It’s told in such a poignant and sensitive way, and when it culminates…. well I challenge you to have a dry at the end of this recording. I’m sure I will listen to this over and over again, but I wanted to record my first impressions as I am awestruck by this beautiful piece. Thank you James! What a gift you’ve given us!

Historia
In this important book, G.K. Chesterton offers a remarkably perceptive analysis of social and moral issues, even more relevant today than in his own time. With a light, humorous tone but a deadly serious philosophy, he comments on errors in education, on feminism vs. true womanhood, on the importance of the child, and other issues, using incisive arguments against the trendsetters’ assaults on the common man and the family.

As a relevant today is ever…
Revisado: 07-05-22
This is a truly masterful work, considering it was written 100 years ago. Chesterton shows himself to be quite prescient regarding the ills of society, and some common sense approaches to how to fix it.

Determined to Believe is written for those who are interested in or even troubled by questions about God's sovereignty and human freedom and responsibility. John Lennox writes in the spirit of helping people to get to grips with the biblical treatment of this issue for themselves.

Great book - lousy reading.
Revisado: 05-16-18
Who chooses the readers for these books? I know not everyone can be Simon Vance or Lloyd James, but I would think that conveying some sense of understanding the material should be a prerequisite.
More than once I thought the reading was computer generated; the nonsensical inflections and mispronunciations were so distracting it really ruins it for me. For a guy who likes to listen to books three or four times, it really takes away from the experience.
The book itself is outstanding. I love John Lennox and his ability to use reason and logic, which is both affirmed by and upholds scripture.
Determinism never made any sense to me - this book helped me move past what had been a real stumbling block.

Historia
Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale defend the absolute claims of Christ against modern belief in the "secular gods" of atheism, scientism, relativism, and more. The rise of these secular gods presents the most serious challenge to the absolute claims of Christ since the founding of Christianity itself. The Christian worldview has not only been devalued and dismissed by modern culture, but its believers are openly ridiculed as irrelevant. This audiobook is fresh, insightful, and important, and faces head on today's most urgent challenges to Christian faith.

Classic apologetic; Vince Vitale is on the Rise
Revisado: 06-29-17
Where does Jesus Among Secular Gods rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a well-done apologetic that walks logically through the maze of distractions and detractors of the Christian worldview. Ravi seems to have more bite and less patience for the chuckleheads who just look to disparage Christians and Christianity.
One problem - and not a small one - the narrator would be better suited to a work of fiction. His dripping sincerity and passion comes off as insincere as he fails at getting some of the most basic language right. I have heard Ravi speak many times and I know his inflections. The narrator didn't even bother to pronounce Ravi's wife's name correctly - very distracting.
What didn’t you like about Peter Berkrot’s performance?
Insincere and not authentic.
Any additional comments?
I always prefer non-fiction to be read by the author(s). The inflection IS important, and I suspect those of us who love audio books are very particular about that.
