I loved learning about Rose’s life bit by bit, little layers being peeled slowly back.

I don’t love birds, BUT I loved this story!!!
Revisado: 06-14-24
Jocelyn Green is an automatic read for me; I have loved every book she has written. While I do not like birds, and the study of ornithology is not interesting to me at all, I loved this story! I even learned a lot along the way! Green has a beautiful way of weaving together a story of real people, an historical time period, and interesting topics. Her strong female lead characters are flawed characters who need to change and grow. Another five star book for Jocelyn Green.

Historia
For most of her eighty years, Mary Jackson has been waiting. As she’s endured the steady invasion of tourists, influencers and real estate developers who have discovered the lakeside charm of Good Hart, Michigan, she’s also patiently anticipated the arrival of a stranger she’s believed since childhood would one day carry on her legacy—the Very Cherry General Store. Like generations of Jackson women before her, Cherry Mary, as she’s known locally, runs the community hub.

Great Story, Great Narration
Revisado: 06-25-23
Viola Shipman has done it again. This is a wonderful story set in northern Michigan. I love Shipman’s ability to weave a story together and bring so much emotion and history alive in the page!

Heartbreakingly-beautiful
Revisado: 05-02-20
What a beautiful, heartbreaking, and powerful story. I loved it! Wingate wrote a moving account of life coming out of slavery after the Civil War and the search for family by former slaves. Woven together with the book of lost friends and the story of Benny Silva, this book had me on the verge of tears several times. Being a teacher and a librarian myself, the story of Benny Silva particularly struck a chord with me. This is a must-read book!
It was beautifully narrated!
