Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Absolutely wonderful
Revisado: 08-13-19
This is one of the best audio books I’ve ever listened to. It didn’t need an epic romance to keep me enthralled. It just had a spunky character with an interesting life and a lot of wisdom to share. I was entertained and interested the entire 15 hours and enjoyed every minute. This author did a fantastic job.

This book starts out slow but hold on, it will take you for a ride. Such a heart wrenching story but a definite good read. I couldn’t stop listening.

Historia
The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

Started out okay
Revisado: 03-10-17
This book was kind of hard to get into seeing that the main character acted so juvenile. She gets better and you end up really liking the story until Tania leaves Lennongrad and then there's just sex all the time. There's no more plot or storyline. Just brief snippets of chit chat before more sex. I'm not a prude, but I like my books to actually have a story and i just couldn't finish this one. I think I had about 8 hours left of the 30.

I'd like my credit back
Revisado: 09-20-15
Let me start off by saying that I know writing a book is a really difficult thing to do and takes a lot of work. And I admire anyone that completes the task. However, the plot to this book was just not good. In general the storyline was just really underdeveloped as well as we're most of the characters. By the end of the book I didn't really care if she ended up with Jax because I didn't really know much about him and his character came off like a cocky jerk most of the time. The main character was very whiny and unrealistic, as was much of the book. The narrator was also just really annoying. The only reason I finished it was because I paid for my credit and hoped it would get better. This is my first and probably only review I'll do on a book because I don't want someone else to make the same mistake. Don't waste your credit.
