Historia
Lavinia “Vin” Lucas is out of control and out of options. Stranded by parents who would rather use their average magical abilities to study dung beetles than raise her, Vin's been on her own for years. But she’s never been able to corral her own powerful, unpredictable magic. After years of detention, suspension, and expulsion from magic schools far and wide, she’s now being sent to the Last Hope School for Magical Delinquents. If she gets expelled, it’s the end of the line. Now, Vin is determined to behave. Except no one at Last Hope seems to want her to.

Historia
It's late August in Shady Hollow, and intrepid reporter Vera Vixen agrees to chaperone the school’s annual field trip to Summers End, an ancient tomb built by an early woodland culture. Naturally, her good friend Lenore Lee comes along to help her. But when the group enters the tomb one morning, they find a corpse that is distinctly more. . . modern than expected. Digging deeper, Vera and Lenore discover that the deceased was involved in the recent excavation at the site, and very unpopular with their colleagues—including Lenore’s sister, Ligeia.

Juneau Black does it again!
Once again, I found myself completely enthralled and encapsulated in this cozy critter novel. I love how the main character is able to venture outside their hometown and continue to solve murders! I always find myself falling in love with the characters and the cozy settings. This author does not disappoint when it comes to creating a cozy mystery! I for one and very excited to see what our author has in store for our characters next!

I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my life. Everyone loves Orion Lake. Everyone else, that is. Far as I’m concerned, he can keep his flashy combat magic to himself. I’m not joining his pack of adoring fans. I don’t need help surviving the Scholomance, even if they do. Forget the hordes of monsters and cursed artifacts; I’m probably the most dangerous thing in the place. Just give me a chance and I’ll level mountains and kill untold millions, making myself the dark queen of the world.

A slow burn but worth it
Revisado: 11-24-23
I’ll be honest I started this book last year and got a few chapter in and put it down. I picked it back up a year later and I’m so happy I did. It takes a few chapters to be drawn in. I’m glad I came back because I found myself drawn into the world these character are emerged in. The ending really left me wanting more and I can’t wait to read the next book.

And when Alan's father, Shelby, goes over the top of Twilight Falls, all signs point to Stasia being the murderer.

Another amazing mystery from Juneau Black!
Revisado: 11-24-23
This is by far my favorite cozy mystery series! I consistently find myself falling in love with characters and their quirks. I love that the characters co to ur to change and develop over time. This time around I once again found myself drawn in close by the mystery taking place. I can’t wait to read the next installment and hope that there are many more to come!

I found this book to be very reminiscent of The House in the Cerulean Sea. Cozy and suspenseful I found myself falling in love with the story and the characters. The voice actors and author did an amazing job pulling the reader in and keeping them seated. This is the first time that I’ve read this author and I can’t wait to see where they take this story!

Historia
For 300 years, Sister Autumn has incited wars, burnt villages, killed kings, and released plagues at the bidding of the grimoire. When an order from the grimoire sends Agatha to the Kingdom of Merveille, she already anticipates the worst. Unless she wants to face the wrath of the Goddess, Agatha must keep her head down and do as she's commanded. But when the grimoire orders her to marry a pompous prince and play the role of a peasant "accepted" by vicious aristocrats, she finds herself at the center of a war between the classes and an age-old prophecy.
