Historia
The story is about three women, one of them has mental illness; they are just girls that were growing up in a typical Yoruba family. There is a kind of loss involved so they were moved around among relatives as house-helps to take care of the children. I’m following the journey of these three women.

Great listen
Revisado: 11-26-24
Very good performance and story. I found the story bold and the characters were quite complex. Drug and mental health issues are not really depicted in the African culture so it is great to read about a story that is this deep into how it affects families and generations.

I literally read about the air hostess who tripped and injured herself and I tripped and broke my ankle. Too much of a coincidence.

The long suffering wife
Revisado: 11-21-24
Adanna went through so much and still couldn't catch a break. It ended so abruptly I didn't know if it had ended. I don't know how I feel about how her life went. it's like the calamities shall never end. the AI read was probably the only way I would get to read this book but it was poor when it came to the language so I'm sure I missed out a lot. Though I understand Igbo it was hard to make out atimes.

The book had me on the edge of my seat, with plenty of moments that made me root for the protagonist. Full of twists and turns, it maintained a clear, entertaining direction throughout.

Speechless and in shock at how good.
Revisado: 10-01-24
This book painted the most vivid picture in my mind, transporting me to another world and stirring a whirlwind of emotions. With countless layers to uncover, it’s a true Afro-futuristic fantasy that seamlessly blends ancient culture, traditions, and the realm of magic and supernatural powers.

Who would've thought a "Bum Bum" story could be so deep?
Revisado: 10-01-24
This book was deeply thought-provoking, tackling generational issues and childhood trauma with plenty of unexpected twists. While it had its humorous moments, the story’s seriousness quickly becomes apparent as it skillfully unravels the complexities of different mindsets and perspectives.

A bold dive into taboo themes for most Africans.
Revisado: 10-01-24
I found the book to be a gripping exploration of the hidden layers of sex, power, and the complex identities of people who outwardly wear the mask of religion, yet harbor deep contradictions beneath. I’m fully here for all the deviance and range of diversity this book dives into. It was an engrossing listen. Emezi’s boldness is both thrilling and unsettling, as they unapologetically tackle themes that are often considered taboo in African culture. The writer’s fearless approach left me intrigued and a little unnerved.
