Historia
In this fascinating account, Ann Rule delivers a tour de force: a whirlwind of misguided love, denial, guilt, and passions out of control; a series of brilliantly manipulated crimes; the bizarre and horrifying tale of two families brought to ruin; and, at the center of it all, the heartless, supremely selfish sociopath whose evil hid behind soft words and gentle manners, but who destroyed—without mercy—those who loved her.

Crazy controlling woman!!
Revisado: 03-31-25
This is a true story of a crazy, manipulative woman and all the people she destroyed. It is an interesting listen but far too long. I kept jumping ahead because 17 hours of listening to the craziness of Pat Taylor was too much. There must have been an astounding amount of research that went into the writing of this book. The writing wasn't bad in any way, it just goes on for too long.

This book captured my attention from the opening chapter. I was mesmerized by the story and the reader's voices were perfect for their parts. I'm looking forward to reading/hearing more books by this author.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Good story but poor narration
Revisado: 06-07-22
I had just finished listening to Diane Armstrong's book, Mosaic, which I absolutely loved. This book came up and sounded interesting and I noticed it was narrated by the same person (she did a good job with Mosaic). I was surprised at how hard it is to listen to her read this book! I've finally given up and ordered the book on my Kindle instead because I want to know the story but just can't listen to this narrator any more! I'm sorry I wasted a credit!

Historia
The story of the famed large format cinematographer, adventurer, and mountaineer whose terrifying experiences on Mount Everest during the deadly 1996 season became the defining moment of his life. By 1995, David Breashears had already twice reached Mt. Everest's summit. Then he faced the greatest challenge of his life: to scale the 29,028-foot peak, hauling the giant IMAX® camera to film the large format film, Everest.

I couldn't listen
Revisado: 01-30-22
This might be a great book, I'll probably have to read it though. I could not continue listening to this narrator. It was like listening to a Dr Seuss narrator or to an old movie - not sure how best to describe it but I had to stop listening after the first chapter.

Olga Lengyel tells, frankly and without compromise, one of the most horrifying stories of all time. This true, documented chronicle is the intimate, day-to-day record of a beautiful woman who survived the nightmare of Auschwitz and Birchenau. This book is a necessary reminder of one of the ugliest chapters in the history of human civilization.
