Both expected and unexpected time travel tropes, it very enjoyable for a light listen. Narrator does a good job! Would listen to them again and will go looking for more books

Come and get hooked

This book has long been in my top ten of books to read and series to have. I have a physical copy and have super enjoyed listening to the tale. The character voices were not quite what they were in my head, but I couldn't expect them to be.
When reading the book I was always annoyed when it would switch to a different character and then when it came back, I would be annoyed again, but when listening it all made sense.
This is a classic horror tale featuring cold war villans and british heroes, I would a like a few more female characters (but that happens in further novels).
This is a slow building tale that is well worth it.

I want more

Well first John G Hartness is a fantastical storyteller and character builder, I adore what he brought to life and actually slowed down my listening because I didn't want it to end. The characters were relatable and filled with enough flaws that you rooted for them every step of the way.
John has taken a biblical tale and put a unique (to me) spin on it.
He left me wanting more.

Fluffy Fun for the Win

The normal pattern is that our hero is a supernatural in a human world who saves the day, this time around its a mortal who stumbles into the supernatural world and whilst not quite saving the day, does seem to use her own mortalness to help out.
It is a cute story and I'm looking forwarding to more.

It gets better and better

Sometimes when you a read a series there is a limited sense of storyline, like each novel is just the main character fighting the next bad guy, well this series is no different BUT the storyline does actually build so the story gets better and better.
I wasn't sure I liked Justis in Book 1, but Bronson Pinchot was reading so I gave book 2 a crack and was hooked, and then guttered when Book 3 was the end :)
Justis is a little broken but completely likeable and surrounded by a supporting cast of strong women, interesting men and fun action, I like that he is clever but that is revealed to us slowly.
The introduction of kids into a book can turn this sappy and weak, but not here, definitely added to the storyline without making me cringe.

One for the boys

So I picked this book based on a good friend enjoying it, I did kind of forget that my friend is a male who likes hunting and is single.
This tale of Deacon Chalk is a great read if you like balls to the wall, men winning, the idea of harems and vampires. Definitely not a bad read or a bad story, its fun and filled with glory and fight scenes.
What didn't I like? Well in today's feminist world, this world of women who are all dead or emotionally/physically broken whilst still looking like they could work as strippers, left me wanting a lot more character development for them.
The character of Deacon is great, I just wanted stronger female (physically and emotionally) characters for him to equal :)

Another win for Jennifer Estep

Jennifer Estep writes a great story, with a strong female lead and supporting characters. If you like that, then this book is for you.
In saying that though there were a couple of areas I would have preferred changed, and I spotted a pedantic inconsistency or two, now of which take away from the imagination of the story or the reading by Lauren Fortgang.
This a fast and light tale of a woman saving the day.

Glad its over

I'm glad the story is over, it had become tiresome listening to moaning characters over and over, the story in its entirity (from the first book) is interesting but the ending was lack lustre.
