Historia
A kid walks into your bookstore and says to you, Guess what? I'm your son. The one you put up for adoption seventeen years ago. The one you never told anyone about. Surprise! His name is Matthew Walker, and he's come to spend the summer on the Cape with his parents. Why? Well, he wants to meet you before he heads off to college in the fall. Tiny detail—he didn't tell his adoptive parents about his plan. And while you hoped this day would come someday, you're so stunned, you actually faint.

Felt all the feelings
Revisado: 07-10-23
I laughed and cried out loud. Great characters and a wonderful look at all of the different sides of adoption. Being an adoptive mother I could relate so much to this story and the various views so beautifully woven together.

Excellent narration!
Revisado: 01-16-23
Tawnya did a great job narrating this book with its vast array of characters. The story started off a bit slow for me but got better and more cohesive as it moved along. Provided an interesting look at history of that part of the country that isn’t often heard.

Delightful story
Revisado: 08-09-21
Such a sweet story of how one person can make such a difference through simple acts of kindness . The characters were charming and the story unfolded so beautifully. The narrator was amazing and really brought the story to life. This book will brighten your day and make you want to be a better person.

Not great
Revisado: 06-20-21
The story had some interesting parts and portrayed the difficulties that immigrants must deal with when assimilating into America. However the characters weren’t fully developed or very likeable. The narration was very bad…it was difficult listening and detracted from the story.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 06-06-21
The book was interesting in painting a picture of what life was like during the Spanish flu epidemic, especially within the context of our recent events with COVID. However, the characters were not particularly compelling or believable and were too simplistic in their defined roles of “good” and “bad.”

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Loved this book!
Revisado: 05-13-21
This book was a surprise but was a joy to listen to. The narrator was fantastic and the story was charming but also deep in the perspective it provides about our lives and how we live them and view our successes and failures.

I have found Lisa Jewels books hit or miss but I really enjoyed this story of self/discovery and found the characters endearing, imperfect and relatable. The narrator was great.

Britt-Marie can't stand mess. She eats dinner at precisely the right time and starts her day at six in the morning because only lunatics wake up later than that. And she is not passive-aggressive. Not in the least. It's just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention. But at 63, Britt-Marie has had enough. She finally walks out on her loveless 40-year marriage and finds a job in the only place she can: Borg, a small, derelict town devastated by the financial crisis.

I love Backmans characters. Imperfect and quirky but lovable. The narrator really brought each character to life. This was a thoroughly enjoyable listen and made me smile.

Two sociopaths
Revisado: 04-11-21
This was a terrible story with two very unlikeable characters who were both really just selfish sociopaths. I thought the main character was finally going to redeem herself but then she just proved to be equally awful. This book is better left unread.
