Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

This is one of the best WW2 historical fiction books I have listened to! The audible characters are on point and the story keeps you wanting more! Highly recommended!

don't like the voices
Revisado: 08-24-22
For the most part the book was good, but the audible voices were not great. In about 4 to 5 chapters throughout the book, one of the main character's voices were different and that's distracting. I was glad when this book was over so I could start a better one.

Some of the voices were hard to listen to... but it ended up being a good story in the end.

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

it was a struggle to get into, but once I was in about chapter 4, I just wanted to keep going! I didn't love the way they did the voices.... it wasn't all consistent.. but I got used to it. Overall great story!

Great story....
Revisado: 09-08-20
Loved the story. I didn't like some of the voices .... maybe they were too loud? I feel that the book ended abruptly. All of the sudden is over. Would have liked the story to maybe go a couple more chapters too wrap things up. but, I did enjoy it!
