Historia
The witch of Tophet County has three primary preoccupations: Kentucky bourbon, Amish romance novels . . . and protecting her true identity from the chthonic monsters who rule humanity with an iron tentacle. Despite her best efforts to get fired, the witch is trapped in a draconian, century-long contract that condemns her to work for the Archons of the Nether Realms in the banal misery of county government. But when she accidentally pleases her many-armed overlords, the Dread Lord of Human Resources curses her with an unwanted promotion. And it involves meetings.

Fun and fluffy murders
Revisado: 01-20-23
I enjoyed the different readers, although I thought they were different people and it took me a hot minute to realize it was the same woman at different points in her life. Some of the writing tired me out. At the end, when she was at the auction house she did the weird tense thing that gave away how the book ends and while it wasn’t a super gripping thriller or anything… any suspense or intensity for the final big crescendo was lost for me, because I was like ehhhh, we pretty much know what’s going to happen now. It’ll still be fun to get the details I guess, and it’s not like this is the kind of gritty book where a main is going to die. But there was an episode of Golden Girls where Blanche was going to get remarried and they were like guess we all need to find a new place to live, the band needs to break up, you know? Like, gotta have some scare and it just wasn’t there.
