I have read and loved the entire Kate Shugak series many times. Listening to all of them was very enjoyable too, except for the jarring mispronunciation of some of the real Alaskan towns and villages like Tok! Really? The narrator couldn't or wouldn't take the time to ask the author how to say it right? Sadly. the entire Audible series is fraught with mispronunciations.

I've read all of Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak series and Liam Campbell series and enjoyed every one immensely. I have lived in Alaska for decades. When I first arrived in 1980, I struggled with the strange names of places, and still have difficulty. So I do empathize with the narrator, but I wish she had at least done some homework or consulted with the author on how to say some of the obviously foreign-looking words. Her mangled pronunciations of many of the nonfictional places were very off-putting and distracting. Glaring examples are: Tok - pronounced toke, not talk. Valdez - pronounced valdeeez, not valdez. Kenai - pronounced keen-eye, not k-neye. There are more, but I've made my point.
