Historia
A place you will never forget. Rosamunde Pilcher's Scotland...where the fields flourish with greenery, the bills bloom with purple, and the lochs glitter with the bright blue of the sky. A time you will never forget. September...when the heather is in full flower, the first chill of autumn cools the air, and the countryside stirs with the hunt, balls, dinner parties, and dance. Rosamunde Pilcher's September...a story of homecomings and heartbreaks, friendships, betrayals, forgiveness, and love.

Engaging and surprising plot
Revisado: 02-24-23
Loved this story and it’s descriptions-although too much time spent on history in several conversations. However, the narrator is still ' love with her different voices and makes the audio painful at times. She has a pleasant enough voice but her impersonations, especially of old people and children are screeching and out of tune. I frequently have this complaint against narrators today. They overdo and exaggerate and spoil the experience! They forget that they are in someone’s ear!

Historia
When local nobleman Étienne de Bremont falls to his death from the family château, it sets the historic town of Aix-en-Provence abuzz with rumors. The once-idyllic town suddenly seems filled with people who could have benefited from Bremont's death - including his playboy brother, François, who's heavily in debt and mixed up with some unsavory characters. But just as the list of suspects is being narrowed down, another death occurs. And this time, there can be no doubt - it's murder.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 05-23-22
Very good story, but the narrator spoiled it through her harsh yelling when she would switch to a man’s voice. It hurt my ears. Why can’t the narrators read in a normal voice? The reader can interpret the differences on his or her own.

Historia
Britain moves ever closer to the 1745 rebellion and the impending attempt to restore the Stuarts to the British throne. With no other options available to her, Beth marries the effete and tedious social butterfly Sir Anthony Peters. She resigns herself to a future of formal parties and dismal social gatherings whilst accompanying a husband who is both tiresome and physically repellent to her. But she consoles herself with the thought that if she is not to know love, then, at least she will have a secure and comfortable life.

Narrator’s voice both delighted and discouraged
Revisado: 03-06-22
The story started out being very engaging-the characters promising, and the setting interesting. The main conflict I had with the book was it’s narration. The male narrator was mesmerizing, his mastery of accents riveting. I basically hung on his every word. However, the female narrator sounded much older and harsher than the young woman she was purporting to be-I hated listening to her. She was okay as the 3rd person narrator, but made the ingenue sound petulant and shrill. So, 5 stars when I heard the male characters and a one when I heard the others.

Fascinating-with the ring of a true story
Revisado: 11-14-21
I very much enjoyed the narrator’s clipped English tones. The story was enchanting with many surprises throughout-some that made me gasp out loud!

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Horrible experience
Revisado: 09-28-21
If you like exciting mysteries that promise a fascinating resolution but never solve the mystery; if you like static scenarios and stereotypical detectives; if you like a deep man’s voice simpering in falsetto tones to create the sound of a woman or young girl speaking; if you like hours and hours of boring description and back story with no relevance to the story line, then buy this Audible reading of this book. Pointless.

Works for me!
Revisado: 03-18-15
As in any Audible book, the voice is key, and Lisa's voice is a pleasure to listen to. The exercises she leads are effective and relaxing, just what I wanted. Seems to be similar to NLP
