Same as the first two books. Cheeky characters and a great narrator. Ignore the implausible mechanics and science, just enjoy the ride!

I hoped for the best, but didn’t get it.
Revisado: 12-16-23
I have listened to a lot of books on Audible, both good and bad. There has only been one or two that I couldn’t finish and this one almost made that list. I stuck with it because the story itself wasn’t too bad. The writing could have been better but the worst part was the narrator. He wasn’t bad when he was just reading the narrated parts of the book. The problems arose when he did different voices. Really grated on my nerves. I had to force myself to listen to get through the last 4 hours and I still had to stop several time to listen to other books. I actually listened to two complete books in the middle of this one.

Firefly cranked up on Meth plus a Space Wizard!
- De LITRPG Audiobook Reviews en 04-27-18
A good fun read. Don’t pass it up.
Revisado: 03-02-23
Imagine Firefly meets The Dresden files. Full of snark and personality. I very much enjoyed this series. The “stowaways” add a little extra character development along the way. The author has taken liberties with reality, which is entirely ok. This is Science Fiction after all. I can totally see some feet-to-the-ground types not liking some of the ways that physics are bent, but those people are better off sticking to a good documentary.
This series may not be 100% original (even per the author’s post script) but there is a lot of content here. Well worth the purchase.
Now for the narrator…SUPERB! Every character is portrayed differently not only in voice, but in style and inflection. You really get to know the characters through his voice.

Historia
Steve and the other survivors in the UK have rebuilt and healed after the brutal end to the reign of Richards. But removing a dictator was only the beginning.... Years after a mistake of compassion and humanity, an enemy thought long gone returns to bring down a rain of violence and terror the likes of which they have never seen before. Their society, a peaceful one of trade and cooperation, has moved on from the bloody aftermath of the collapse, but that evolution blunts their teeth to be able to combat the new threat.

Another great addition to an excellent series.
Revisado: 01-24-23
While this series may be somewhat predictable, it excels in one great aspect. It has some of the best character development, both from the perspective of the “hero” characters to the villain cast. This gives more feeling to the books as a whole. They are written in a way that you become invested in the characters, not just the story. When the book is at its conclusion, you are left wanting more. You laugh at the jokes, and cry with them during strife.
I will listen to these books at least once a year.

As with the first book this sequel was quite enjoyable and I hope there are more to come. If you want a quick paced space adventure with comedic undertones then this book is for you. Honestly lost track of how many times I truly did laugh out loud.
On the other hand, if you like your Sci-Fi to be grounded in science and very serious, you need to keep scrolling.

Seventeen-year-old Dodger may be a street urchin, but he gleans a living from London's sewers, and he knows a jewel when he sees one. Having listened to this entire series twice fully, and in quick succession, I find it to be one of my favorite post-society based book series. I find a book to be highly rated if once at the end, I find myself slightly distraught that it is over, having come to empathize with the characters along their journey. Highly recommended.

Historia
It is 1941. Wolfgang Stahl, an American spy operating undercover as an SS officer, has just fled Germany with Hitler's henchmen on his trail. He is carrying valuable cargo - the blueprint of the Führer's secret plan to invade Russia. Stahl's man in the American embassy, the shy and sheltered Calvin M. Cormack, is teamed with a boisterous MI5 officer, Walter Stilton, to find the spy and bring him to safety. Their investigation takes them across war-torn London, from the shelled-out blocks to the ubiquitous pubs to the underground counterfeiting shops; and in Cormack's case, into the arms of Kitty, his partner's rambunctious daughter.

I have been searching for another author of historical fiction and I have found him. The author weaves his tale through historical events with ease. Highly entertaining. This will not be the last novel by John Lawton that I read. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is one I’ve several in a series. Lewis Hancock also did a fine job with the narration.

A space epic.
Revisado: 07-26-21
As with any book that has been made into a movie, I was concerned about my memory of the movie getting in my way regarding the progression of the book. My concerns were unnecessary. Wil Wheaton is one of the best in the business and he was a perfect choice for the narration of this book. Wit and sarcasm abound and create a book full of humor mixed in with serious scenes of survival.
The Martian has moved to the top of my “read often” list.
