Massacre: Minnesota Sioux Uprising outlines the Indian uprising of 1862 and explains how it came about. In less than an hour, you will meet the main participants, understand the various battles at New Ulm, Fort Ridgely, Birch Coulee, and Wood Lake, and learn more about the expulsion of the Native Americans from Minnesota. For those listeners who want to know more and understand how contemporary listeners learned about the uprising, we included several original accounts published in the St. Cloud Democrat, The Pioneer Press, and the Goodhue Volunteer.

why don't they consult locals about pronunciation
Revisado: 01-10-22
while the accounts of the book have been researched, I always wonder why narrator's assume they know how to pronounce place names & native names. Mankato may have been pronounced with two short A's for the individual, the place name has a short a for the first & long a for the second. Flandreau is mispronounced as are other names. surely narrating is a tough job, but a little research could be helpful no

I didn't read enough of the description to realize this was a group of short stories, but just that it was Larry Correia. He is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. His writing reflects a sense of humor I truly appreciate.

I looked at this when it first came out and put it in my wish list. When it showed up as a free title with the newest Audible benefit, I downloaded it. So glad I didnt pay for it and have to ask for a refund.

Historia
In Marbella, Spain, Dr. Kate Warner awakens to a horrifying reality: the human race stands on the brink of extinction. A pandemic unlike any before it has swept the globe. Nearly a billion people are dead--and those the Atlantis Plague doesn't kill, it transforms at the genetic level. A few rapidly evolve. The remainder devolve. As the world slips into chaos, radical solutions emerge. Industrialized nations offer a miracle drug, Orchid, which they mass produce and distribute to refugee camps around the world. But Orchid is merely a way to buy time. It treats the symptoms of the plague but never actually cures the disease.

Historia
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

Sacreligious or very entertaining
Revisado: 05-24-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Lamb to be better than the print version?
I'm not sure as I didnt read the print version, but a good narrator really makes a good book great.
What other book might you compare Lamb to and why?
I cant think of any as it was such a great concept. I think laughter is important and this book really made me laugh. The whole concept of God, Christ, Buddah, Krishna, etc. all wrapped up neatly, well not so neat in some cases, but in a way that wasnt putting any on the moral high ground and putting others down as a lesser Faith.
What about Fisher Stevens’s performance did you like?
This narrator was great, each character was easily discernable and each had their own humor. I dont know how this narrator wasnt laughing the whole time
Who was the most memorable character of Lamb and why?
Obviously, Biff. Long suffering and well loved by everyone but his Mother.
Any additional comments?
Dont judge it as sacrelgious, just enjoy it. God must have a sense of humor, look around us.

When Bonnie Grayduck relocates from sunny Santa Cruz California to the small town of Lake Woebegotten, Minnesota, to live with her estranged father, chief of the local two-man police department, she thinks she's leaving her troubles behind. But she soon becomes fascinated by another student - the brooding, beautiful Edwin Scullen, whose reclusive family hides a terrible secret. (Psst: they're actually vampires. But they're the kind who don't eat people, so it's okay.)

Zombie book was better
Revisado: 05-24-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I didnt like the Twilight series and thought this would be funnier because I really liked the Zombies of Lake Woebegotten. It was ok, but maybe too close to the Twilight series, gag. The author is a good writer, maybe too good because I really hated the Bonnie character.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I had it figured out before the end
Which scene was your favorite?
None really, I think the author was too good as I really hated Bonnie and everything to do with her.
Do you think The Twilight of Lake Woebegotten needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, unless Edwin turns on Bonnie and kills her in a fit of rage because he realizes he has been played by a sociopath
Any additional comments?
I would read others by this author

What didn’t you like about Yahtzee Croshaw’s performance?
I dont care for his voice as a narrator

Historia
It's Christmas in Half-Moon Hollow and newly turned vampire Iris Scanlon-Calix wants to make Gigi's first visit home from college as normal and special as possible. It's taken months for Iris to work up the nerve to spend time around her baby sister after her vampire transition, so she enlists help from Jane Jameson and Company to keep her blood-thirst under control and assure Gigi's safety. Gigi, on the other hand, has problems of her own, including the demise of her relationship with high school sweetheart, Ben, and a looming job interview with Ophelia Lambert, the scariest potential employer in the Hollow.

Thank you Audible, Molly Harper & Amanda Ronconi
Revisado: 12-09-13
What made the experience of listening to I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas the most enjoyable?
The fact that it was free was icing on the cake, so far any Molly Harper book I have listened to has been fantastic, Amanda Ronconi is the perfect narrator for Harpers wit.
What was one of the most memorable moments of I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas?
Just the whole continuation of the Iris Scanlon story and further development of the characters.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She has the timing needed to make Harpers dry wit come to fruition. I'm not sure how she does it, but she must laugh her backside off when she completes some of the line and gets to a stopping point.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When G.G. realizes how much Iris and Cal really love her and how to be thankful instead of resentful for their overprotective ways.
Any additional comments?
Audible, Thank you so much for this freebee. I know it must have cost quite a bit to write, produce and make this available. Very few successful writers and narrators would have agreed to this, whether or not they were reembursed.
