The real-life Alex Vause from the critically acclaimed, top-rated Netflix show Orange Is the New Black tells her story in her own words for the first time - a powerful, surprising memoir about crime and punishment, friendship and marriage, and a life caught in the ruinous drug trade and beyond.

Piper seems to be a better storyteller.
Revisado: 07-19-22
Not sure if Piper was just better at telling the story of her perspective or if it was just a cooler story. Cleary didn't pull you in even when talking of encounters with international drug kingpins and smuggling across the globe. Maybe her POV didn't see it as much of a wild ride?

Historia
In 1997, World Championship Wrestling was on top. It was the number-one pro wrestling company in the world, and the highest-rated show on cable television. Each week, fans tuned in to Monday Nitro, flocked to sold-out arenas, and carried home truckloads of WCW merchandise. Sting, Bill Goldberg, and the New World Order were household names. Superstars like Dennis Rodman and KISS jumped on the WCW bandwagon. It seemed the company could do no wrong.

The Fall From Glory
Revisado: 01-28-20
This is a much more well put together perspective on the timeline of World Championships Wrestling than is presented by many that were employed there. Simply because the author doesn't seem to hold a grudge or desire to bury other employees. Nor does he have a need to save face and wash his hands of any faults like those at the helm of the sinking ship.

Are you telling me that they couldn't do multiple takes? There are times where the narrator yawns, coughs, clears his throat, etc. Could they not edit that out? Other than that this is an excellent book.

LeDuff hit the nail on the head, chapter after chapter. One of the few times the term fair & balanced has been used as an accurate assessment. This man revived true journalism in an effort to tell the story of what's taking place in the present day US from both points of view.

Historia
ECW was one extreme contradiction piled on top of another. It was an incredibly influential company in the world of professional wrestling during the 1990s, yet it was never profitable. It portrayed itself as the ultimate in anti-authority rebellion, but its leadership was, at various points, working covertly with the two wrestling giants, the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. Most of all, it blurred the line between real life and the fantasy world of professional wrestling like no other company before it.

Hardcore Resurrected
Revisado: 09-29-18
Loved reliving the glory days of one of the most influential companies in wrestling history. ECW and it's impact could be seen while watching the Big 2 engage in the Monday Night Wars. The impact is still felt in arenas today. Only drawback to this book was the lax narration, compounded with the mispronunciation of wrestlers names throughout the book.

The origin of every Alex Jones rant, social media conspiracy meme, and "fake woke" pseudoscience video on the internet. Historia
The story of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and his legendary street crew, the Black Mafia Family (BMF), is the tale of a modern-day don who aspired to be something more: a credible name in hip-hop. It is a tale built on the seduction of vast sums of money, a seduction that pulled in hip-hop stars but that also had a darker side.

Narration

I loved his portrayal of Weebay on the Wire and understand the connection of having him narrate. Just don't agree with the call. There had to be someone in the studio that could pause and correct is pronunciation of the people and places in the story.
