Historia
Embark on a rollicking Florida escapade through this masterfully crafted, wickedly funny comic novel. Set in 1980s Florida, this coming-of-age adventure follows the journey of a 17-year-old aspiring horror filmmaker captivated by a B-movie scream queen. Stealing away from his family’s Palm Beach mansion, he joins forces with an aging con man and his ambitious girlfriend. Together, they race into the heart of the Everglades, where his dream girl is filming Swamp Fiend 2. However, their plans bog down in a treacherous swamp teeming with competing cons and hustles, and a whole lot of alligators!

Florida Hustle
Revisado: 01-10-24
This fun twisty Elmore Leonard-esque tale is full of original characters and plot twists. Wilborn deftly carves out a style and wit of his own that never stoops to tropes or blandness. His work has echoes of his predecessors like Leonard but he has his own talents that make it easy for him to shuttle us through the Florida turf. This is same territory Leonard and Carl Hiaasen staked out with well drawn memorable characters in wild rollicking plots. Done with aplomb, Wilborn doesn’t get stuck in their tracks. I’m waiting for the next Wilborn novel and book of short stories (Ybor Stories) like a hound waiting on a bone.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

THE END IS NEAR
Revisado: 05-19-23
Harari highlights the still coming end of Humanism due to our reliance on machine intelligence as it rises to dominate our feeble quirks and inordinate emotions. Perhaps the Dataists will prevail and help snuff out the “light” as his predictions indicate in his insightful and brave book. Harari is at once ironic, clear-eyed, hilarious, and possibly right on the big issues in front of us. This book is impossible to ignore even though written ten years ago. It still holds water!

This is a supremely subtle book of wisdom both in detail and scope. A life changer for me.
