I have listened to all the books in the series. I found this one the most enjoyable. Anthony was less of a doormat than in the previous books, maybe because he wasn’t in the thick of the mystery. There also weren’t a lot of annoyingly voiced characters, as in the precious books in the series. I would listen to this one again, but not any of the previous ones.

The book overall was fine although the whole situation between Mrs V and Winkie was repetitive.

The narration was great. Lovely voice and great distinction between characters.

Have you listened to any of Amy Rubinate’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Amy's performance was great as usual. No complaints there.

I like Kristan Higgins and I loved the Best Man book from this series but I could barely make it through this book. I skipped many of the chapters just to get through it. I like Connor but couldn't stand Jessica and their relationship.

I really like this story except for two things.

First, the mc was involved with a married man and knew he was married.

Second, I couldn't stand how the mc's best friend kept reminding the mc to watch how much she drank, who she hung out with, etc as the town was full of gossips. That did not endear the town of Guthrie to me.

Jill the door mat

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I liked Jill at first, but as the book proceeded, I found her annoying. I'm not a health nut but I found Jill's diet of fried foods, non-stop desert and alfredo a bit much. She also is a bit of a door mat at times, although she did stand up for herself with the Mayor's wife (Tina) once.

Have you listened to any of Susan Boyce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first time I have listened to Susan Boyce. I found her narration pleasant although there wasn't a significant amount of differentiation in her voices.

I've listened to all the Haunted Home Renovation series. I think this is the best one yet. I love the chemistry with Mel and Landon. And the mysteries were great. Inspector Crawford and Luce are wonderful characters and add so much.
