Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Thought-provoking honest portrayal
Revisado: 01-21-24
I enjoyed every moment of this autobiography. I have such an immense respect for Harry( Harold, Has, Spike). His honesty makes this read so profound, enlightening, and insightful. His eloquence, and memories are just incredible. After reading this book I not only had more respect for him, but for his family as well. In pictures with Charles, you would never imagine that he called Harry his darling boy. I absolutely love that, and it shows so much more than his photos ever have. I can understand both sides by reading this, and how the one side of the family felt the need to maintain the press relationship, to promote their existence as a monarchy, while on the other side, it was intolerable for Harry and Megan, as it was for His mum. Prince Harry is an amazing writer, narrator, and able to recall events so clearly, you feel like you were there. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fresh, intelligent, and honest perspective of the monarchy.

Historia
I open the creaking oak front door of my beautiful country house to see a stranger on my doorstep. The woman is stunning with glossy red hair and flawless make up. "Can I help you?" I ask. That was my first mistake. Alexis tells me she is a distant relative and shows me a DNA match on her phone. She has no family and would love to get to know us. My husband Hugh invites her in to join our dinner party. As we drink wine, she opens up about her sad childhood. Her amber eyes are mesmerizing, and I can see my husband is being drawn in by her story. Then she asks for our help.

Never knowing his parents, eleven-year-old Stewie Little and his brother have been raised on a farm by their older sister. Stewie steadfastly tends the chickens left by his beloved late grandmother. And every day Stewie goes door to door selling fresh eggs from his wagon—a routine with a surprise just around the corner. It’s his new customer, Marilyn. She’s prickly and guarded, yet comfortably familiar—she reminds the grieving Stewie so much of the grandmother he misses more than he can express.

Another wonderful story…
Revisado: 07-29-23
This book was refreshing. After listening to so many crime novels recently, I really enjoyed this book about real people, situations we all find ourselves, or others in. This author always leaves me with such food for thought. Her writing brings me back to what’s really important in life. I would highly recommend any book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, and I wish there were more authors out there like her. If you know of any, please let me know. I can’t wait to purchase another of her wonderful stories.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Extremely well written story, but…
Revisado: 12-03-22
There are a couple of mentions of cruelty to animals. (Slight spoiler) I understand that part of it was for survival, but the part at the POW camp in Japan was really hard to listen to, and the reader would have been able to decipher that the guard was terrible, and heartless, without the awful narrative. Otherwise, the book is written by an extremely talented, and gifted author.

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

It is a perfect July morning, and Elle, a 50-year-old happily married mother of three, awakens at “The Paper Palace” - the family summer place she has visited every summer of her life. But this morning is different: Last night, Elle and her oldest friend, Jonas, crept out the back door into the darkness and had sex with each other for the first time, all while their spouses chatted away inside. Now, Elle will have to decide between the life she has made with her genuinely beloved husband and the life she always imagined she would have had with her childhood love.

Good and bad
Revisado: 07-28-21
I couldn’t stand all of the references to animal cruelty, and the lack of compassion for animals in this story. There was a callousness in the author’s tone, to the issues of animal mistreatment, that really bothered me to read. The author also used way too much vulgar language, when not necessary in many parts. On the positive side, the setting was superb, and the idea of the romance was sweet, but became rather tainted over the years. It Could have been a really heartwarming novel. Also bothering, was what I interpreted as an underhanded put down of the Jewish culture. I could be wrong, but several references didn’t feel right, and the reference to the shabbat elevator frustrating the main character really clinched this feeling for me. The mother of the main character was nothing but irritating, and her voice made her just that much more unlikeable. I had to push through several parts that really bothered me, as I did form an interest in the main character and her best friend.

I love reading thrillers, and suspenseful novels, so this book sounded promising. It was actually very difficult to listen too. It was well written, which kept me going for awhile, but just too many really upsetting circumstances in the story. Very difficult listen.

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Must read suspense novel
Revisado: 04-11-20
This is one of the most well written suspenseful novels I have ever read. I absolutely recommend reading this if you enjoy this Genre. This author is so completely talented in creating a masterfully written story that I was unable to put down. The narrator was absolutely incredible at reading this story, absolutely amazing combination of talents coming together.
