A winner! I plan to relisten!!
Revisado: 03-29-25
I love the Frankie series and this one didn’t disappoint!! It starts out a little slow; time is spent on laying the groundwork for the characters and plot. But as with all the others, the tension picks up and then the next thing the story has you in its grip! Thoroughly enjoyable 😄 I plan to relisten!!

It took me a while to get into the story. A lot of set up and background. I enjoy the author and lead character so I stuck with it because of the reviews. Once it picked up, I really got into it and enjoyed it. Becomes quite the page turner. Would recommend and probably relisten.

Revisado: 07-12-21
This started off promising but the male narrator killed it for me. No passion, no playfulness, no romance, no acting. His voice is better suited for nonfiction.

Historia
If any artist could brag about his contribution to the pop culture canon, it’s Smokey Robinson. His career is filled with so many “he was there” moments it’s a wonder he doesn’t recall them with the swagger of a conquering hero: songwriting and singing as a teenager in Detroit; co-founding Motown Records with Berry Gordy; creating 26 Top 40 hits with his group The Miracles; helping to spark racial integration of popular music in the 1960s; discovering hitmakers like Diana Ross and the Supremes; penning tunes for a jaw-droppingly diverse group of artists.

Historia
When Leslie Morgan divorced after a 20-year marriage, both her self-esteem and romantic optimism were shattered. She was determined to avoid the cliché of the “lonely, middle-aged divorcée” lamenting her stretch marks and begging her kids to craft her online dating profile. Instead, Leslie celebrated her independence with an audacious plan: She would devote a year to seeking out five lovers in hopes of unearthing the erotic adventures and authentic connections long missing from her life.

A Memoir full of “Realness” & Reinvention post divorce
Revisado: 09-17-20
This book is different from the author’s other work because it is about the grief and transformation necessary after divorce. Divorce is a huge loss, and the author describes an apparently loveless marriage despite its material comforts. When you go through a divorce, you find yourself in situations and with needs you never thought you would have. And yes, that reinvention also can mean dating, sexual exploration and transformation as well. Readers may only understand this book if they’ve had a similar loss. I appreciated the book’s realness about the thrilling and terrifying experience of reinvention as a newly single woman post divorce. I found it to be a great, affirming listen.

Historia
Close your eyes and get ready to see the world in a new and more positive way. As a child in Toronto, Molly Burke was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa and became completely sightless as a teenager. Now an award-winning YouTube star and global influencer, Molly shares what it’s like to be a purple-haired, pink-obsessed fashion and makeup lover in a seeing world. She speaks with authenticity and candor about how she tackles the preconceived notions we have around blindness; Molly has made it her mission to make us see her - and ourselves- in a wholly empowering way.

An Amazing First-Hand Account of Resilience
Revisado: 01-08-20
I selected the book because it was a free audible original. I thoroughly enjoyed Molly’s story. While some would prefer a professional narrator, I think it’s really important that *her* story is told in her own voice. Her story is about being seen in all of her complex layers and facets. A narrator would take away from that, I think.
I enjoyed her confident, youthful narration as it reflects her hard-won confidence and self-esteem. She deserves to strut a little, given all she’s overcome. I plan to incorporate her story into a new class I am teaching later this year, a total surprise in this free selection.
Molly is doing important work educating people about life with a disability and also helping us all see blind people in their full humanity. She’s a great ambassador and role model. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. A great read for teens and young adults and those who want to learn about the challenges the blind face in society today.

A Real Thriller/Makes the Story Real
Revisado: 10-29-19
Very professional story telling elements bring you into the moment. I appreciated learning more about the victims and the toll this senseless event had on them.
Thoroughly researched and produced. It does only include interviews from the FBI, none from local law enforcement. Not sure if it was intentional but local law enforcement come off looking bad. Still a great listen about a terrible surreal tragedy.

Incredible book about psychotherapy life's journey
Revisado: 09-09-19
I'm a clinical psychologist and downloaded this book out of curiosity. I didn't know what to expect. What a book! Beautifully written, Gottlieb describes the process of psychotherapy through first-hand accounts of her experience in psychotherapy and her treatment of her own clients. She demystifies the features and power of psychotherapy. It reminded my of my years completing my training what a privilege it is to be with people as they go through the process of behavioral change. Her stories of her clients are fascinating and retold with such care and sensitivity. Their humanity shines through. The book and narration are so compelling, I couldn't stop listening! So worth the time I spent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a great book for anyone curious about psychotherapy or for anyone in training to become a therapist. Loved it!!
