Historia
After being sentenced to death for the accidental killing of a wealthy, well-connected man, Sela Meriweather is offered another option—to be stripped of her soul and sentenced to lifetime exile on Azazel, the vast prison-island. There, alongside “dangerous” criminals like herself, firstborn children of the Old Town chosen by the lot are sent to atone for the sins of their families. As one of the elected Righteous, Caleb Alexander’s path to widespread renown is guaranteed so long as he can endure a year as an overseer on Azazel, preventing the other guards from fraternizing with the prisoners.

A pirate take full of heart.
Revisado: 04-13-24
The Soul Mark is a rich tale that will have you questioning what it means to be pure and what it is to love someone when simply touching them can cost you your soul. It is filled with romance, pirates, and characters who fight for each other at their own risk. I loved it and can't wait to read book two.

Terminator meets Dragonball Z with magic
Revisado: 02-20-24
I used to spend hours watching Dragonball Z with my husband in my early 20s. While reading Steal Fire from the Gods, I definitely got a Goku versus ultra world destroying aliens vibe. All that is thrown into the apocalyptic world of Terminator where humans suffer under robotic control.
I especially enjoyed the ending. I can't wait to see what Clint Hall has next!

Fantastic ending to a thrilling series!
Revisado: 11-14-23
I adored listening to this pirate story. Well done all around! I especially loved Arn and Emme's relationship. McCombs executed a friends-to-lovers, slow burning tale marvelously.
There is so much mystery and adventure packed in each book. The villains are so three dimensional, you won't know if you should hate them or hug them. (I wouldn't suggest hugging, unless you want a knife in your back.)
I read all three in audiobook format. The narrator's skill and vocal/character consistency made the audiobook well worth it.
I'll be reading more from McCombs for sure!

Brilliant Pirate Adventure!
Revisado: 09-19-23
Where do I begin with this book. It was a wonderfully crafted high seas tale, rich with complex characters and their questionable actions. There are monsters, lore, magic, and treasure abound. It is quite violent at times, as is expected in this type of story. The romance was intricately woven through the narrative, and the pacing was superb! And the twists at the end will leave you itching for book 2!

A Brilliant Heart-felt Fantasy
Revisado: 04-28-23
I've enjoyed everything I've read by Sharon Hinck. Dream of Kings is not only not an exception to that rule, but it by far surpassed my expectation. I loved the connection to the Biblical story of Joseph from Genesis. Probably because that's one of my favorite Old Testament accounts. The characters and world were vividly fleshed out. I highly, highly recommend this book.

Loved it . . . but . . .
Revisado: 11-26-13
Would you listen to Divergent again? Why?
The voice actress was amazing and the story was well written. Very fast read. BUT I'm worried about the rest of the series. I've heard from so many people that the third book is a let down. I loved this so much that I'm afraid to keep going.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Four for sure! I found myself near skimming to get to scenes with him.
Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I liked her voice, pace, and inflection.
