Historia
After the unexpected death of his father, Joel inherits a mysterious antique passed down through multiple generations of his family. When he discovers its hidden contents, it sets in motion a chain of predestined spiritual events dating back not only to AD 70 - when the high priest recorded his firsthand account of the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth - but also to the foundations of the earth.

Overall a good concept
Revisado: 03-25-20
The book was very slow to get started and it took a long time for me to get into it. Once I got past that, I enjoyed the story line. The ship over the city actually made the whole plot less believable. If there had been a stronger dose of reality woven into the story it would have drawn me more deeply into the plot. I also would have liked to see more development of sub plots like Noah’s Ark or the Ark of the Covenant.

This was an excellent book. I appreciated a Christian message with a story that would interest any suspense reader Christian or otherwise. I wasn’t excited by the narrator, but he was ok.

The first couple of books in this series were pretty good, but have deteriorated with each new addition. This one is simply ridiculous. I couldn't wait for it to end.

Walking through eternity
Revisado: 09-17-14
What did you love best about Illusion?
The faith shared by the protagonists. The love of two souls that become one as they experience their lives together. The suspense that I felt as the story unfolded.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This is always the toughest part of writing a review, because when I really enjoy a book I like all of the characters. However, Dean came alive for me. Perhaps because the reader is also the author. Dean is "his" character, and so he is really writing about how he believes he might respond to being caught up in such circumstances. Dean is a caring, strong and God loving man who reminded me a great deal of my own dear husband.
Have you listened to any of Frank Peretti’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
No one else could have brought this book to life as did the author!
If you could take any character from Illusion out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Mandy. I would like her to tell me some of what she was feeling. Those things that the book left to my own imagination. Although, I suspect since it is really my imagination I would be asking about, I might already know what she would say.
Any additional comments?
Mr. Peretti's performance was superb. If he had chosen to do so, he could have had a wonderful and successful career performing and recording audiobooks. Aren't we all blessed that he was born before that this would have been an option. As much as I loved listening to him, losing such an talented author would be sad indeed.

Too short
Revisado: 06-07-14
If you could sum up The Book Case in three words, what would they be?
3 words hmmmm.
Better if longer.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes and no. There wasn't enough time to get to the edge of my seat before I fell off.
Who was the most memorable character of The Book Case and why?
John Corey of course.
Any additional comments?
Scott Brick read wonderfully as he always does. You never have any doubt about what character is speaking. He is as much an actor as he is a reader.

Revisado: 05-14-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot built well as we got to know the characters as people. There were twists and turns that were not always predicable as in less skillful plots. I won't ruin the story by going further than that.
What about J. Charles’s performance did you like?
He did not do a wonderful job at the beginning of the book which seemed to be monotone, but later he did a good job at allowing you to recognize each character at the sound of his voice. However, there were still some characters that sounded too similar to recognize.
Any additional comments?
I know this is an old book about a cold war which we believed was over. Even if not for the most frequent episode in out tangled relationship with Russia, this book would be riveting as a historical novel. Research was excellent.

Revisado: 05-06-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Plum Island to be better than the print version?
I haven't read in print.
What other book might you compare Plum Island to and why?
You might also enjoy Clancy's books.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott Brick is a true star. He can make almost anything he reads come to life.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but it would have been impossible because of the length. I did listen over a few days.
Any additional comments?
The first book I read in the "John Corey" was "After Dark.. I have had to go back and listen to them all from there. Now I will move on to the next and the next.

Popular, why?
Revisado: 04-23-14
Would you try another book from Steve Berry and/or Scott Brick?
Scott Brick is the only reason I listened to this book until the end. He never fails to enthrall the listener, which was difficult in this audiobook. I found that the book had promising elements, but rambled on in a way that was difficult to follow at best. I dislike the character, Cotton Malone. Maybe its just his idiotic name, but I don't think so.
Has The King's Deception turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, not in this genre. I love suspense books and thrillers.
Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?
It was only Scott Brick that involved me at all. I was not pleased with any character in the book although Mr. Brick was able to make each one real.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. It really wasn't worth all these hours of my time.
Any additional comments?
I really tried to like the character "Cotton Malone." I am well aware of his popularity, but it was a no go for me. I even went so far as to listen to another book in the series. My overall opinion? I will not waste my time with this author again.

The original Scrooge.
Revisado: 03-23-14
If you could sum up A Christmas Carol [Blackstone Version] in three words, what would they be?
I love the movies with Alistair Sim from the 1950s and George C Scott from the 1980s. It was time to hear the actual writings of Dickens and those movies were quite close. This recorded version was a delight to listen to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Scrooge of course. He is the protagonist who is redeemed.
Which scene was your favorite?
The one with Marley when he first comes home and into his room. I have to add a 2nd. The scene where he awakens on Christmas AM.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Scrooge talked to Crachet the day after Christmas.
Any additional comments?
The reader was good and had enough of an accent to make you aware that this was placed in London, but not enough to make it difficult to understand.

Historia
In October 1943, a U.S. destroyer sailed out of Philadelphia and supposedly vanished, the result of a Navy experiment with electromagnetic radiation. The story was considered a hoax - but now Juan Cabrillo and his Oregon colleagues aren't so sure. There is talk of a new weapon soon to be auctioned, something very dangerous to America's interests, and the rumors link it to the great inventor Nikola Tesla, who was working with the Navy when he died in 1943. Was he responsible for the experiment? Are his notes in the hands of enemies?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if that friend liked rather extreme thrillers.
What did you like best about this story?
Personally, the only series of books that I really love is the Oregon and NUMA. The others just don't appeal to me. Maybe because I love the ocean.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Many. Mr. Brick is by far the best reader I have ever listened to, and I have listened to many. I don't know how he manages to perform so well in so many audiobooks, but if I am unsure of whether I want a title his name as performer of the story often causes me to make a choice in favor of buying it.
