Wonderful
Revisado: 12-14-20
I put this on while trying to take care of my newborn so I could still have my books even when I have my hands full, and I'm so glad I did.
The pronunciations are spot on and the characterizations were so immersive I couldn't help but listen to it fully within a few days.
I have read this book innumerable times over the years and this was my first time hearing it, it was amazing!
I'm about to start from the beginning of the Belgariad and just listen and let my baby girl hear the stories she's named after.

Historia
When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer. Then came the dark day when the Dark God Torak split the world asunder, and the God Aldur and his disciples began their monumental labor to set Destiny aright.

Historia
Polgara is the epic culmination of a magnificent saga, and a fitting farewell to a world which, once experienced, will never be forgotten.
She soars above a world of warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles.

Story : 10/10 but Narrator 2/10
Revisado: 12-14-20
2020: This is one of my favorite stories of all time. I even named my daughter after one of the characters. So when I say I'm disappointed you should know it has nothing to do with the story.
I finished Belgarath the Sorcerer and immediately started into this one within a minute and I almost turned it off.
The narrator not only didn't even seem to try to know how to pronounce the names, but every accent seemed to be forgotten and suddenly everyone was a flat toned American trying to sound interesting. She says "Bel-GaiRath" like she'd never heard it before. Ce'Nedra sounds like a petulant child and Garion sounds like an idiot.
Polgara is a strong, deep character that lost almost all of that depth with this performance. I'm so disappointed because I wanted to immerse myself into this story as I had with all eleven, ELEVEN, other audiobooks, but I could not.
Someone please, fix this.
edit: 05/2021
So, in light of my original review I decided to soilder on and listen to the entire book, despite my distate for the narrator.
After over 30 hours of listening to this glorious book read by a woman who didn't have the decency or time to listen to the previous 11, ELVEVEN(!) books I find that my original review stands.
The lack of effort to even learn the pronunciations of character names, titles, places, and gods grates me the wrong way. Heavens, it isn't a herculean effort to check the previous entries of the Saga to know how to pronounce the principle characters names. I adore this book. It's one of my favorites, honestly, and I'm so sad that I cannot enjoy this one as much as the others.

Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddingses' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles. Her hair streaked white by her father's first touch, her mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara begins life in her Uncle Beldin's tower, and in the prehistorical, magical Tree that stands in the middle of the Vale.

I liked this book quite a bit. Good info, easy to follow, not too long.
