Just What I NEEDED

I want to thank whoever recommended this book to me because it came just in time. It is very uplifting and eye-opening. Les Brown's delivery is on-point! I listened to it from start to finish,

"The universe will never give you anything you don't have the capacity to handle" was my favorite quote from the book. Life will knock you down, but don't become a victim of your circumstances.

This speech isn't neccessarily meant for finding your purpose, but it gives you the motivation to live out your dreams, whatever you want to do in life - Do it. No excuses.

Awesome Debut

I found myself biting my nails waiting to see what happens next. I almost wish it were a movie. It absolutely deserves 5 stars for the performance, because I enjoyed the switching up of narrators. It was fun being able to play detective as the story unfolded. Overall, it was an excellent Audible Original. I would love to hear more from this author.

Please make a part 2 or a follow-up book. I want to know what happens next, and what made the sister kill??
I have so many unanswered questions.

Would Rather Read

I couldn't make it to the second chapter. What is with all of the music and sound effects. Sounds like they are trying to hypnotize you or something. I'm sure there are good points made in the book, but the audio is not for me

Slow but good

The female narrator voice sounds like Alexa. She doesn't really alternate between the voices, it's like she just read the book out loud. I had to follow along with the Kindle version. I love Jakobi, so his narration made the audiobook bearable (with a 1.25x narration speed)

On a different note, I admired this story, the connection between Lotus & Kenan, the realness, and the dialogue! They didn't let their age difference affect their relationship . I was also happy to hear Lotus's story since she was in the first book.

What I love most about Ryan's work is that she keeps it realistic, unlike some of these fairy-tale far-fetched romance stories.

Healed

This book got me through a rough time in my life. I enjoyed the narration and found out some great things about Joyce that made her the successful woman she is today, She does not sugar coat and she totally understands a woman's struggle.
Be prepared to take notes, this book is a keeper

Growing Pains

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I can listen to Elizabeth Acevedo narrate all day! She brought the story to life especially with the spoken word.

Zuri has a strong love for her hood and sisters , she's one tough cookie that became open to love. I was so wrapped into this book I felt like a teen again.

I would most definitely check out more of Ibi Zoboi's work.
