Probably my favorite book of the series
Revisado: 07-23-23
Although anything I say about the story should be taken with a grain of salt because I think it's meant for tween or young teenage readers, I did enjoy this book more than the others. I think that was partially because after finishing the other books and having spent longer with the characters I felt more connected to them. I don't think the author does a particularly good job at drawing you into the story and creating a world you feel invested in, I think the books are overall enjoyable and interesting. The narrator mostly does a good job but the way she does some of the voices is grating, especially the animals. Again, overall it was fine and I enjoyed listening to it.

I enjoyed it more than the first book

Like the first book, it kept my interest. It wasn't superbly fantastic but I enjoyed listening to it and generally liked the narrator's narration.

But when the forces of the Dark threaten, Hem flees with his protector, Saliman, and a young orphan girl named Zelika to join the Light’s resistance forces. Interesting and Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-11-23
I've found I've generally enjoyed each book in the series as much or sometimes a little more than the last. It's not an unforgettable epic or anything but it's enjoyable. I think it's even better for tweens/ teens (and that's probably more the target audience than I am, anyway). With this book, however, I was not impressed with the narrator at all. He had a sort of frog like quality to his narration and most characters voices that I didn't care for and often found irritating. But overall it was fine I guess.

Maerad is a slave in a desperate and unforgiving settlement, taken there as a child when her family is destroyed in war. She doesn’t yet know she has inherited a powerful gift, one that marks her as a member of the noble School of Pellinor and enables her to see the world as no other can. It is only when she is discovered by Cadvan, one of the great Bards of Lirigon, that her true identity and extraordinary destiny unfold.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 06-15-23
I enjoyed the first book enough to venture getting all the other ones in advance. It was definitely interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing the story unfold. The narrator does a pretty good job. From my perspective at least, her narration doesn't take you out of the story. Definitely worth a try, if you like fantasy and have some extra credits to spend.

The Best Part is the Audio Reader
Revisado: 08-25-22
It was interesting but not really exciting (to me anyway). I'll listen to anything read by Will Patton but the story never really felt like it got going. It was just mild happening after mild happening. But I'd say it could be worth listening to once.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 12-20-19
Less exciting than some of his other works (in my opinion) but still enjoyable. I was a little annoyed with the way the narrator elongated words and sounds and had so many "... Uuuhhhs..." I guess he was trying to make it sound more natural? But it was tedious. Still, overall great stuff.

Still recovering from the shocking revelations they uncovered deep in uncharted territory in the Grand Canyon, American myth and legend investigator Nolan Moore and his team take on a new mission, investigating a rumored case of witchcraft and possession. I enjoyed it
Revisado: 11-21-19
First of all I really wish they'd had the same guy who read the first book (Brandon Williams) read this one too. The guy who did it was okay but I didn't like him as much. As far as the story goes I didn't think it was quite as good as The Anomaly but still very interesting and enjoyable. Although it did feel kind of muddled and confusing at parts, but maybe I'm just dumb :p If you liked The Anomaly you should listen to this too. And if there are more books in this series you should go back to Brandon Williams. This guy did a fine job but I didn't like his Ken voice.

Historia
When the Imagine Network commissioned a documentary on mermaids, to be filmed from the cruise ship Atargatis, they expected what they had always received before: an assortment of eyewitness reports that proved nothing, some footage that proved even less, and the kind of ratings that only came from peddling imaginary creatures to the masses.

Easily Enjoyable, Great Narration
Revisado: 10-24-19
I have already listened to and returned "Into the Drowning Deep." I thought it was interesting enough to listen to until the end but knew I'd have no interest in listening to it again. After hearing this one, I think I didn't give "Into the Drowning Deep" enough of a chance. The woman who read this did and excellent job and I really enjoyed the story. Now, after thinking it over, I think my real issue with the other book was the narrator, Christine Lakin. Her voices for so many of the characters were, and I mean no disrespect to her, very irritating. To be honest I think her narration spoiled the story a lot. I returned that other book but I'm keeping this one and look forward to the next book in this series. However, if it's read by Lakin again, I think I'll go with the hard copy. But if Teri Schnaubelt reads the next book, I'm totally on board.

Imagine Jurassic Park but not done very well
Revisado: 10-22-19
I don't want to be too mean to the book, I did listen to it pretty quickly. It kept my attention and I did want to see how it turned out. But it's not worth more than one listen, in my opinion. I liked most of the main characters. Very, very gory. Not much in the way of suspense. Honestly, I'd say listen to Jurassic Park instead. Way more interesting, very suspenseful, and very believable (also liked the narrator better). Now, obviously with all the supernatural the book will require an amount of suspending disbelief, but it felt unrealistic in ways that it didn't have to be. For example, if some mutant forest suddenly sprang out of the ground, I'd have to imagine the government would be all over that. I don't see how there would be any chance some corporation would get their grubby little fingers on it. I would have liked it beteer if things hadn't gone to such a grand scale towards the end but I think that's just more of a personal preference thing. I would have liked some more explanations in some ways and some more mystery in others. But again, overall, not too bad, but just okay.
