I really enjoyed this podcast, it was funny, interesting and had excellent characters. The audio quality was fine and I never had difficulty understanding anyone. if you like Dragonlance and 5th edition D&D, give this a try.

this is the best actual play I have every listened too, it's audio, sound effects, and more importantly storyline and roleplaying are exceptional. my only complaint is how slow the episodes come out.

Litrpg's aren't really my thing

it was alright, made decent background noise, and it had some good parts. the narrator was good at everything but voices. Tads voice is so incredibly high pitched and it drives me insane. At least half the female characters (which isn't to many to be frank) have drawls, which is fine but when a 16 year old girl and his mother sound uncannily similar, but if the narrator is male than I guess I can understand that they might not have to many female voices. The plot is decent, though a lot of special skills showed up at very convenient moments.

Tale of the Manticore is a hybrid between a dark fantasy audio drama and a solo D&D RPG. The dice make all the important decisions and, as a writer, my job is to interpret them and tell their story. Part fiction, part game, it’s the story where ”Chaos rolls.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/tale-of-the-manticore-a-dark-fantasy-dungeons-dragons-audiodrama--6276878/support.

the best gaming podcast I have listened too
Revisado: 09-06-24
if this was a book it would be bestselling, as It is I love this podcast. the author does a god job making you care about the characters before he mercilessly kills them. the only complaint I could have is how the seasons don't tie together as much as I wish they did so the endings of the 1st and 2nd seasons don't finish following every thread that the creator sets, still I'm pretty sure he has a plan as far as that goes. I hope that we get a tales of the manticore source book and a module or two.

up there in my favorite books.
Revisado: 07-06-24
I read this series all the way through by borrowing the books from a friend the first time around. even then it amazed me. of course it gets unpleasantly slow towards the end of the series (the last 6 or so books), but it your just starting you won't have to worry about that for a while. The narrator is great, the world building is great, the story is great. Ignore any initial feeling that this is a Ranger's Apprentice knock off. that feeling will quickly where off. Anyway, one of the main things that is criticized by other listeners is Ahrens intelligence. I would disagree with Ahren being stupid, though he is uneducated he is fairly smart considering the fact that his first schooling experience was after he turned 13. I just wanted address that. The romance in the story is kinda stupid, especially considering that Ahrens love interest is a freaking jerk at first. The author should have introduced her later in the story. Any I highly recommend this story, but make no mistake this is definitely YA.

A surprisingly good find.
Revisado: 06-11-24
This story was much more serious than I expected, I assumed it would be a heavily comedy based story loaded with gaming jokes. This expectation was reinforced by the pet otyugh, among other things. I recommend it, however be warned, if you are seeking an Introduction to the DnD world this is not the book. It assumes that the readers already have a decent understanding of the lore of Faerun. I hope for a second book.

this was my favorite of the wilderlore stories thus far, it went much deeper into the adventure and finally explained why Root actually bonded to Barclay. It was also the first that the main characters experienced defeat, which I love. Definitely read this book!

I mean, it's fine, I love the magic system. however, Fort did nearly cause world War 3 just because he wanted his dad back, he is obnoxiously self absorbed. but honestly I say it's worth the read.

cube kid almost makes a comeback.also a few spoilers.
Revisado: 02-03-24
many peoplem though that cube kid had ended this series at book 6, and many people were pleasantly surprised by the 7th book being written. however, for the amount of time he spent writing this book is mediocre. cube kids choice to remove Coggboggle was clumsy and a waste of a good antagonist. The fact that Cube Kid appears to have forgotten about Pebbles redemption arc and even describes him as if he hadn't been exiled pretty much ruined the plot and the logic of the story. Please Cube Kid, pay closer attention to what you write and try not make such colloidal mistakes. Also I am sorry about about the brutal review, I hate insulting peopled writing and really love this series for the most part, despite the many wholes in logic.
