Historia
In India, two out of every three people are under the age of thirty-five. These are men and women who grew up with the internet and the advent of smartphones and social media. But when it comes to love and marriage, they’re expected to adhere to thousands of years of tradition. It’s that conflict between obeying convention and embracing modernity that drives journalist Mansi Choksi’s The Newlyweds. Choksi shines a light on three young couples who buck against arranged marriages in the pursuit of true love, illustrating the challenges, shame, anger, triumph, and loss their actions set in play.

Beautiful writing. The stories made me laugh and ache.
Revisado: 01-08-23
So romantic and clueless at the start. Each individual adjusting to their partner along the way, as we do, but these people under intense social pressure. Fear, loss, violence all just for being in love. And there’s growth. This is a fantastic story of 3 love stories. The writing filled me with images of India and tormented me as I started to understand the deeply ingrained beliefs that these couples were up against. I can’t even imagine trying to create a lasting relationship in these circumstances. Fantastic to listen to! Highly recommend. Please write more. 5 years of research?! Amazing.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Beautiful, heartbreaking

Creates a beautiful, lush Marsh world. Compelling story of young girl’s will to live. Life, love, great mystery, natural beauty. It’s a fun read. Better on paper than listened to.

Spine chilling, incredible, terribly sad- in my top 5

What a terrible story. Written so beautifully. This is honestly one of my favorite books now. I recommend listening to it on Audible. It’s read very well. It reads like a suspenseful murder mystery. It’s just crazy that it’s all true. It outraged me and broke my heart. Very important story. Beautifully written.

Annoying and affected voices, lovely story
