Narrator (reader) did not work for me

I found the narration so grating I couldn't keep listening. There is an odd monotony to the reader's voice, along with a nasal tone, and some over-ennunciation, like it's hard to get out the words. I can't grasp the meaning of the text with this reading style, which makes this audiobook aggravating and useless to me. That's too bad, will just have to read the book to myself one day.

I'm sure this book will be seriously enjoyed by many people, just not me. I've read a few other Michael Pollan books, and found them so interesting. This one seriously bored me -- I just could not continue reading. Just seems like so much bloated overthinking.

Audiobook scheduling conflicts eh?

Great Story

Okay, I also really miss James Marsters as the narrator for this book. I hope they bring him back for the next book. However, I find John Glover to be a very good reader. He's a good substitute. These crazy negative reviews are just too much. I've heard some very bad readers that ruined other books for me, and this is not the case here. I was able to very much enjoy the story. Harry is back to being relatively powerless, having to struggle, and it makes the story more interesting. Only about halfway through at this point, but I'm completely engrossed. No annoying kids so far, all the standard characters are back in form.
