Historia
In Searching for Enough, Staton draws on ancient and modern insights to introduce us, as if for the first time, to Jesus' disciple Thomas: history's most notorious skeptic. Like Thomas, we're caught between two unsatisfying stories: We want to believe in God but can't reconcile his presence with our circumstances and internal struggles. But what if there's a better story than shame? What if there's redemption so complete that there's nothing left to hide? What if there's a God who can heal your resentments, fears, and loneliness in such a profound way that you feel whole?

The stories are real.
Revisado: 12-15-24
Stories, real stories of people in this broken world who have real relatable issues, are not perfect and are not hopeful help me with my own personal struggles. Tyler’s ability to bring an invisible God to life with each of these stories brings me hope. We don’t have to suffer but sometimes suffering gives us life. We don’t know how to live in the hope because the suffering is so real. Hope is there. It’s a free gift. It doesn’t come without a cost. It’s costs me little compared to what it cost the son of God and his father. I can hope in that cost. I can trust the story is real. I can have faith in a God who loves me in my pain because he too feels the pain of this broken world. He wants more for us than we often want for ourselves.

Historia
We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To live by what the first Christian disciples called a Rule of Life—a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him. This introduction to spiritual formation is full of John Mark Comer’s trademark mix of theological substance and cultural insight as well as practical wisdom on developing your own Rule of Life.

Obedience is the Way
Revisado: 05-21-24
Practicing the Way is another inspiring book by John Mark Comer. There isn’t a book that he has written that hasn’t encouraged me on my journey with Jesus. I breathe more than ever now. I slowly live life in this busy world. I learn and love because Jesus is a great teacher. I follow and serve. Apprenticeship is a calling to ordinary people. I am nothing if it weren’t for Christ. I am everything God created me to be. I am challenged once again by this author and his way of explaining, expressing, and demonstrating the path that leads us the Christ. It is clear, this book is intended for those who willing open their “ears to hear, their eyes to see, their mouths to speak and their hands to heal” and along the way they demonstrate God’s love by loving others. When I fall, my hope in Christ will help me up. Thank you for this awesome book!

Praying for those that serve
Revisado: 12-31-22
Praying for and with those who serve in law enforcement will bring change to the world as we know it today. My son is serving because he saw what was going on in the world and had a choice, ignore or do something. He chose to be about it instead of complain about it. This daily prayer guide keeps us grounded in who we serve first...God. When we serve him, our capacity to serve others is increased. His yolk is easy and his burden is light. Trust in God and he will do all the heavy lifting. Focus on him and his ways. He is wise and he knows what is best for us.

I have been waiting for this book all my life.
Revisado: 10-20-22
I love the simple, practical, liberating concepts in this book. When I completed the assessment to define My peace index, I was a low 69% and trending down. In the last few days while listening this book, I have felt my peace index change for the better. This tool along with the other tools that Jeremy has given me has helped me to know myself so I can lead myself better. The assessment, the book, and the examples in the book have helped me narrow down in each category of personal health, provision, people, place, purpose, those areas that are negatively affecting my overall peace index. The true life examples show me how to improve and turn those negatives into positives. No matter where they are on the scale as long as they are trending up my peace index will increase. I love this book and I have been waiting for it all my life.

Suffering and Pain
Revisado: 09-19-22
God did not intend for our world to be full of suffering and pain. He wanted a safe place for he and us to enjoy each other. When sin entered the world through the temptation of Satan, we as curious humans granted the gift of free will all started to fall apart. God's love for us has never changed. He loves us enough to allow us to choose him or not. This book does a great job helping explain why when we call out for God, his presence seems distant even though he is right there. Satan tempted Job, he tempted Adam and Eve he has tempted you and me. He is powerless but his lies make us feel like he is in control. Satan has won over my spirit more than once even though my soul longs for God. The troubles of this world are like a magnet at times pulling me apart. I am thankful that the Author ignored the advice of Christian leaders and published this book. Although it has been out for over 20 years, I am just now in 2022 reading it for the first time. I love that the Author himself chose to read the audiobook so I could feel what he is feeling as he emotionally shares his story. This book unlocks so much for me about life. It has such great wisdom, I know each time I listen to it, I will hear something new.

Historia
Grace is the church's great distinctive. It's the one thing the world cannot duplicate, and the one thing it craves above all else - for only grace can bring hope and transformation to a jaded world. In What's So Amazing About Grace?, award-winning author Philip Yancey explores grace at street level. If grace is God's love for the undeserving, he asks, then what does it look like in action? And if Christians are its sole dispensers, then how are we doing at lavishing grace on a world that knows far more of cruelty and unforgiveness than it does of mercy?

In The Bible Jesus Read, Yancey challenges the perception that the New Testament is more important than the Old. Writing with keen insight into the human condition and God’s provision for it, he sets off on a personal journey through the parts we most like to keep at arm’s length—Job, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, and the Prophets—and he asks us to bring our own questions, concerns, and our openness to the wonders of God.

McManus shows that encountering peace does not occur by accident, but rather by artful intention. The Way of the Warrior is a call to decisiveness, self-examination, and the pursuit of spiritual wholeness. Through the ancient biblical practices of humility, focus, ownership, clarity, strength, and vulnerability, he guides listeners to a deeper understanding of their inner workings and provides the guidance they need to establish peace and tranquility in their homes, neighborhoods, communities, and even the world!

Battle Scars
Revisado: 07-24-22
This is the best book I have ever read which balances true life challenges and everyday struggles with the author's honest experiences and personal resolutions. It reminds me I am not unique in those struggles. I have commonality with every human even those called by God and used by God to deliver his hope to the world. I love Erwin reading his own written words. I love his passion and his emotional expression. I have scars from deep wounds. I have left friends, family and my enemy with scars of their own. I never saw myself as a Warrior until today. I am no longer ashamed of my scars. They represent who I am on the outside. I choose to get back into the fight. I am no longer wounded. I am healed, forgiven and ready to lead from the front. I ask all who are in my circle, Will you follow me!?
