Gryff the Griffon Rider is the single greatest example of how to write a complete (fantasy romance/harem) story. No loose ends, no plot holes, no notable shortfall in dialogue between characters(that is, emotions and responses make sense in every situation). Well-rounded characters, incredible world building, and a sensible antagonist. While it can be argued whether or not the plot itself is enjoyable, each person is different, it can't be argued that nothing is "wrong" with the writing.

As for narration, the voices are excellently unique per character, emotional and paced to the energy of the situation characters find themselves in. Daniel is the bar to which every other narrator falls short as a result of his passion and talents. Rebecca has no competition in her ability to make the ladies come to life, I feel as though I'm almost a part of the conversations, standing quietly to the side and eavesdropping on them.

This review is written ~4 years after originally listening to Gryff, listening to dozens of other harem audiobooks that left me searching for the same quality, and finally returning to listen to Gryff again. I am not a paid reviewer, nor have I any connection with Marcus Sloss(he's also earned some poor reviews from me for other works).

Tom North and Faye Bishop ruin the art of narration. Faye is incapable of uttering a sentence without absolutely failing to pronounce at least one word. Harem is incorrectly pronounce "hair-reem," respite is incorrectly pronounced as "ree-spit." Tom has a similar issue, which might be his accent, but every "uh" sound is pronounced "oo" so a "thug" sounds like "thoog" or, during intimate portions, the P-word is pronounced poosy.

overall, the story is good, but if you're looking at this book with interest, break out the reading glasses and read it yourself, or follow along with their butchering. Leon West is a good enough writer for me, but these authors need a greater standard for narrators or they'll never achieve the success they deserve.

mispronounced words, background noise, and missing plot?

Posy Rose appears to have made her debut with this title. Her timing was off, simple words were incorrect, and the background noise was present throughout the entire omnibus.

Timing-Posy changed her speed sporadically, speaking slower during "excited" periods and speeding up when important plot points were discussed. it felt like a nun was narrating the saucy scenes and rushed to finish them.
Incorrect words- "than" instead of "that," "surprise" instead of "surmise," you get the picture. along with that, mispronounced words were abundant, "ree-spite" instead of "res-pit" and the like.
background noise-coughing, sighing, car horns, and bass heavy music were all present in the assortment of sounds.

Ecco Castle-I've not researched this author, this was my first audiobook by Castle, and it'll be my last. Castle's work might have ended in English, but reads like it was tossed into a translator, twice, and then edited for grammatical errors. Along with this, the plot feels like it's missing around 30 hours of details, as the plot developed, the reader is forced to assume critical situations occurred but aren't given the information outright. the final ~3 hours(I listen at 1.3x speed) are used to clean up the plethora of loose ends left in the original series.

in conclusion, I feel bad having used a credit on this work, but if I can protect other readers from this, I'll call it a win.

SPOILER ALERT BEYOND THIS POINT

the protagonist is a forced participant between a "neutral" party and the antagonist. the antagonist turns out to be the good guy, the "neutral" party turns out to be the antagonist, and the protagonist is still a slave to the plot with no true feeling of having a choice. as choices arrive, the protagonist ALWAYS chooses the wrong path and then there is an hour of fixing that issue. the protagonist's sex requirement for mana was a fun concept upon introduction, but quickly became a point of anger for me, as he constantly refuses sexual encounters. what's the point of a HAREM fantasy wherein the MC tries to abstain every time he needs mana but runs out?

Robin Shay's main character male voice sounds like a pre-teen boy, so sex scenes are definitely not enjoyable. pronunciation is nonexistent, Al Sharpton would make more sense than Shay, its a disgrace.

the plot has a paragraph explaining what needs doing, 4 more paragraphs repeating what needs doing, and then a paragraph stating that the thing that needs doing is done. everything in between, the "enjoyable parts," are filled with repetition that doesn't advance anything.

I'm convinced this was written by AI and I wish I wasn't beyond the refund period.

roughly 60% of this book advances the plot. the other 40% is a waste of time on the multiple different storylines that have zero impact on the rest of the series. I understand the concept of setting up a plot, but when the clown hasn't been talked about in 6ish books, just add a paragraph that explains away the group's deaths and quit trying to tie everything back.

Great narration, decent world construction, and average plot. Each scene is entertaining and it kept me listening, but the plot itself is on the verge of boring compared to others within the harem genre. Definitely worth a credit, for being 70 hours long, but it comes with a warning that this book is very forgettable.

exactly what the genre is supposed to be. plenty of spice, a serviceable plot with few gaps or holes, and characters that are enjoyable.

the failure is that it ended far too soon. the story could have continued and I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing it had. I look forward to new series from Landon, they'll be a smash hit.

Misty Vixen makes an enthusiastic attempt to destroy the HaremLit genre, one book at a time. Her complete disregard for character, environment, and plot development proves that authors need no literary knowledge or skill to churn out 44 hours of audiobook excrement. However, to her credit, she found a narrator with such disastrous speaking ability that her incompetency was almost overshadowed.

Katana Jones might very well be the worst narrator on Audible. She fails to pronounce the most basic of words and ruins situations by giving characters an emotion that does not fit the situation.

Jack gets hurt and the female characters are given a laughing, playful, tone. There was a threesome, and Jack is given a tone reminiscent of a pre-Normandy Beach landing Officer. Monkeys given a typewriter would, in fact, be compared more closely to Shakespeare given how poorly this is written.

Jeff Hays, Annie Ellicott, and the production perfection of the Soundbooth Theater. This three book series was a lovely grab for one credit.

Plot was top notch, character growth was above average, and the world details make enough sense to give the listener a feeling of a legitimate setting, not just a place for things to happen. This book's greatest disappointment was ending, and I highly recommend anyone interested in litrpg to pick this one up, because it's a series you won't want to miss.

no plot, no character development, terrible narration. Every sex scene is identical, as if the narration was copy-pasted into its place, and I mean that by the change of tone as though they weren't read with the rest of the story. I'm sure other narrators don't read a book through for recording, but this sounds entirely like a new studio, an additional echo, and a different voice. this book is a 14 year old's attempt at fantasizing what sex is in a post apocalyptic world. regarding the world, MC's go out for supplies everyday as if they were going to a grocery store with a moped, just can't seem to get enough for more than a couple days.

I strongly recommend finding a different author, this one hasn't learned how to write a story yet.
